3.10 TSEC/KY-100 SECURE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM.
The TSEC/KY-100 provides secure, half duplex voice, digital data, analog data and remote keying capabilities for transmission over the HF radio. It has six operational modes, and can store often used settings on presets. Power is supplied from the No. 1 dc primary bus through a circuit breaker marked HF SCTY SET.
3.10.1 Controls and Functions. The KY-100 is con-trolled by the AMS with the CDU (Figure 3-2). Pilot input is through a control screen (Figure 3-15), accessed by pressing INI, then FILL soft key, then KY-100 soft key. Indications and soft key functions are as follows:
3.10.1.1 KY RTU Screen. Mode screen:

gINIT KEY  Selects operating modes.
gUP ARROW  Acts as an up arrow key.
gRIGHT  Acts as the right arrow key.
ARROW
SOFT KEY  FUNCTION
gBOTH Same function as pressing both ARROWS arrow keys at the same time.
PT/CTs  Toggles between plain text and cipher mode voice.
OFFLINEs  Off line mode disables communications and accesses screens to select mode settings, test, and .ll screens.
ZERO ALLs  Erases all keys in the unit except the emergency backup key.
3.10.2 Starting Procedure.
3.10.2.1 Cold Start. A cold start is performed when there are no traffic keys in the KY-100 at start up.
