(c) Lower the light assembly on its hinge to get access to the ballast.

(4) Remove the ballast:
(a)
Disconnect the electrical cable from the ballast.
(b)
Remove the screws that attach the ballast to the base plate.
(c)
Remove the ballast from the base plate.

C. Ballast Installation

(1) Install the new ballast:
(a)
Set the ballast on the base plate.
(b)
Install the screws that attach the ballast to the base plate.
(c)
Connect the electrical cable to the ballast.

BALLAST BEHIND A SIDEWALL; Install the window reveal (sidewall) panel (AMM 25-21-02/401).

BALLAST ABOVE THE SIDEWALL LIGHT;
Close the light assembly:
(a)
Lift the light assembly to its usual position.
(b)
Install the screw that attaches the base plate of the light assembly to the window reveal.
(c)
Carefully install the lamp.

Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Close this circuit breaker and remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:

(3) S 714-031Do a test of the ballast: (a) At the attendant's panel, set the switch for the sidewall lights to the dim position. 1) Make sure the applicable lamp comes on dimly. (b) Set the switch to the bright position. 1) Make sure the lamp becomes bright. (c) Set the switch to the usual position.
(4) S 864-021Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (AMM 24-22-00/201).
