LAVATORY LIGHTS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General
_______
A. Lavatory lighting includes internal lavatory illumination, internal passenger information signs, external lavatory occupied signs, and attendant call pushbutton/indicators.
B. Descrete signals generated by one set of door lock limit switches change fluorescent light intensity levels from dim to bright. The other set activates the LAV OCCUPIED light.
C. The LOCK DOOR sign is operated by the door lock switch contacts by energizing the RETURN TO SEAT relay. This relay also determines the DIM/BRT of the side mirror fluorescent lights.

A. Lavatory light and sign components are controlled by two circuit breakers on the P414 panel, and one on the P180 panel.
B. When the airplane is on the ground and the GND HDL BUS circuit breaker is closed, 115 volts ac is applied to GND HDL BUS TRANSFER RLY and to the ballast. The relay also opens the DIM/BRT circuit and the ceiling flourescent lights will stay on bright.
C. When the airplane is airborne and the GND HDLG BUS circuit breaker is open and LAV LIGHTS circuit breaker closed, 115 volts ac is applied to the ballast and the DIM/BRT circuit is completed, the ceiling fluorescent lights are held to dim. If the lav door is closed and locked, voltage is applied to the RETURN TO SEAT RLY. This causes the DIM/BRT circuit to open and the ceiling fluorescent lights will be on bright.
