8. BITE Test
_________
The BITE has these functions, it:
-continuously monitors its system for failures
-sends failure data to other interface systems (maintenance and warnings)
-keeps a record of failures
-automatically does specified test of the systems, or part of the system, at specified times
-lets specified tests be done during ground maintenance.
The BITE in the computers is described in these chapters:

the BSCU in (Ref. 32-46-00)

the LGCIU in (Ref. 32-62-00).

the TPIS in (Ref. 32-49-00).

A. Safety Precautions
(1)
Put the safety barriers in position.
(2)
Put a warning notice in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear or the landing gear doors.
(3)
Make sure that the wheel chocks are correctly installed.
4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Safety Devices on the Landing Gears WARNING : MAKE SURE THAT, IF THE LANDING GEAR DOORS ARE OPEN, THEY ARE
_______ SAFETIED BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE LANDING GEAR SAFETY-DEVICES. IF THE LANDING GEAR DOORS ARE OPEN BUT NOT SAFETIED THERE IS A RISK THAT THEY CAN CLOSE AND CAUSE INJURY.
(1) To install the MLG safety locks:
(a)
If a landing gear door is open, make sure:
-
the ground door-opening handle is in the open position
-
the ground door-safety lock is installed (Ref. TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(b)
Make sure that the piston rod of the lock stay actuating cylinder is clean.
(c)
Remove the pin (1) and open the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE (460005833) or the GROUNDLOCK SLEEVE (460007280).
(d)
Make sure that the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE is clean and in the correct condition.
(e)
Put the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE in position on the piston rod of the lock stay actuating cylinder.
(f)
Close the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE and install the pin (1) from the inboard side.

(g) Make sure that the flag is in view.
(2) To install the NLG safety lock:
(a) If a landing gear door is open, make sure:
-
the ground door-opening handle is in the open position
-
the ground door-safety locks are installed (Ref. TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(b) Make sure that the holes in the NLG lock stay are aligned. R (c) Make sure that the GROUND SAFETY LOCK (D23080000) is in a clean
