During ground operation, when in icing conditions at idle and the ‐ OAT is plus 1 °C (34 °F) or less,
it is recommended to apply the following procedure to shed any possible ice on the fan:
CAUTION If, during thrust increase, the aircraft starts to move, immediately retard the thrust
levers to IDLE.
If ground surface conditions and the environment permit, accelerate the engines to 50 % of N1 for
10 s at intervals not greater than 1 h.
In addition, this engine acceleration should also be performed just before take-off, with particular
attention to engine parameters to ensure normal engine operation.
‐ When there is freezing fog, and the engine idle time is longer than 45 min (including previous
flight’s taxi-in and taxi-out for a next flight) : Every 45 min (cumulative taxi time) apply the
procedures for shedding any ice that may have accumulated in the core-engine (Refer to
PRO-SUP-70-A MANUAL ENGINE START - GENERAL).
