Because today’s gas turbine engines need a wider range of sensors than ever to hone performance
and conform to environmental regulation, engine manufacturers are turning to suppliers who can
integrate the supply of these critical system components.
Meggitt measures air temperature, fluid temperature,
shaft speed, vibration, oil level, oil debris, actuator
position, oil pressure, fuel press and fuel flow, combining
these in-house capabilities with the technologies of
carefully selected sub-tier partners where necessary.
We supply Rolls-Royce with the sensor and ignition
systems for the BR725 engine—the exclusive power
plant for the new Gulfstream G650 business jet—and
multiple sensors to Hamilton Sundstrand for Pratt &
Whitney’s revolutionary PurePower™ PW1000G geared
turbofan engine.
Mass flow meter
Designed to be even more reliable, smaller and economical to run, Meggitt
has added this new mass fuel flow meter to its sensing and ignition packages.
Utilising a motorless design, the Meggitt flow meter is a fluid-driven, true
gravimetric device that measures fuel flow directly by the angular
momentum principle. The flow meter produces a start and stop electrical
pulse. The differential between these two signals represents the mass flow
of the fluid.

Mounted directly in main engines, accessory gearboxes and APU oil
tanks, uses capacitance or magnetic float and reed switch technology
for high MTBF operations. Highly reliable. No scheduled maintenance
needed. Intermediate case-mounted devices are available for remote
ADD or discrete out-of-sight level sensing.
Fuel flow transmitter
One robust product providing reliable, accurate
volumetric measurement of engine fuel flow from
35 to 2000 pounds per hour at high fuel temperatures.
A “K-factor” scaling resistor allows for sensor
interchangeability.
Chip detector with self-closing valve
Rugged and reliable. Continuously monitoring lube oil
during engine, accessory gearbox and APU operation,
collects ferrous wear material from the lube oil stream
and tells you when you’re ‘making metal’.

Fan case-mounted oil level sensor
Designed for intermediate case, oil reservoir, or remote mounting,
Meggitt’s oil level sensor replaces sight glass applications where
direct viewing is difficult or impossible. This design provides single
or multiple point level indication using rugged, reliable magnetic
float technology. Switching points and sensing range are
customizable and self-test capability can be incorporated. Level
indication can be via cockpit avionics or a remotely-mounted LED
display to facilitate oil replenishment by ground service personnel.
Processes sensor inputs for linearization, compensation
and digital conversion. Whether a signal conditioner for use
with individual sensors or a data concentrator aggregating
multiple engine and airframe sensors and discrete inputs,
we provide compact, cost-effective and convenient solutions.
Capacitance fuel probe
Measures fuel quantity accurately and dependably using
optimized circuit design and components and the
internal bracket or external flange mounting dictated by
tank design. Consisting of concentrically-mounted
tubes, these probes act like a variable capacitor as the
fuel level in the tank changes over a wide range of fuel
temperatures. No scheduled maintenance is needed.
Systems are certified to FAA TSO C55.
