(4) A test signal is provided for each signal type for the data acquisition circuitry portion of the DFDAMU. This self-contained test (BITE) indication as well as those provided from other system LRUs, is provided as a discrete input to the DMU. A self-test routine is also provided for the arithmetic unit and certain portions of the memory. The computer combines these BITE signals and will output a system BITE indication to the CDU. The CDU can then be used, via computer callup capability, to display the code corresponding to the faulty LRU.
B. Control Display Unit (CDU)
(1) The CDU is located on the P9 panel. It interfaces with the DMU and the FMCS. It provides controls and keys to request for data display of any DFDAU and DMU parameter. It consists of keyboard, function switches, and a data display (Ref 34-61-00).
C. Quick Access Recorder (QAR)
(1)
The Quick Access Recorder (QAR) is an airborne microprocessor controlled cartridge drive system. It is used for logging flight data from the acquisition unit on a magnetic tape and can be replayed for reference. The unit is located on rack E3-3 of the electronic compartment. It receives 115VAC, 400Hz single phase power from the circuit breaker main AC bus.

(3)
The QAR has three front panel lights to indicate POWER ON, BUSY and READY. Ejection of the cartridge is an eletro-mechanical function initiated by pressing the eject push button. This is located beneath the front access door of the QAR.
(4)
The QAR records the data on four tracks with tape marks being used as file seperators. The tape marks are BEGINNING OF TAPE (BOT), END OF TAPE (EOT), LOAD POINT (LP) and END WRITING (EW). The cartridge drive is controlled by acquisition unit during normal operation (reading, writing and searching). The QAR is completely automatic in all operation other than loading and ejection of the cartridge.
