Aluminum or steel powder in the oil is normal during break-in and does not affect performance.
1) For initial installation or if the compressor is replaced, perform the following operations
a) Run the compressor for 10 minutes.
b) Discharge the refrigerant - refer to 12-15-02.
c) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
d) Remove oil filler plug.
e) Look through the oil filler hole and rotate the compressor pulley to position the piston and the wobble plate which moves backwards - see Figure 301.
f) Insert the dipstick as per Figure 302. Bring it to the filler hole face stop.
g) Read increments of oil and adjust as required adding 1 oz (30 cm3) at the time until level reaches No. 5 increment.
h) Screw the filler plug and tighten to torque - refer to 20-00-01.
i) Charge the system with refrigerant - refer to 12-15-01.
j) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris.
k) Install the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
2) For maintenance checks, perform the following operations
a) Run the compressor for 10 minutes.
b) Discharge the refrigerant - refer to 12-15-02.
c) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
d) Remove oil filler plug.

f) Insert the dipstick as per Figure 302. Bring it to the filler hole face stop.
g) If required, adjust oil adding or removing 1 oz (30 cm3) at the time until level reaches No. 5 increment.
h) Add oil equivalent to the quantity drained from the recycling stand.
NOTE : Do not reuse drained oil in the system.
i) Screw the filler plug and tighten to torque - refer to 20-00-01.
j) Charge the system with refrigerant - refer to 12-15-01.
k) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris. I) Install the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
