The processor also compares critical data that comes from the two IOC functions. If this data is not the same, there is a failure in one of the IOC and ARINC 429 I/Os.
The processor sends data to the graphics generator over the core processor (CP) bus.
Graphic Generator
There are two graphic generators (GG) that are the same. The GGs receive data from the processor over the CP bus. The primary purpose of the GG is to make the image data for all the display units (DU). The GG uses the data from the processor to make all the vector art. Each GG can make three formats at the same time so that one GG can supply three different displays.
The GG also has the ARINC 453 receivers to receive weather radar data and enhanced ground proximity warning system (GPWS) data. WXR and GPWS data can not show at the same time and have a relation to the switch selection on the EFIS control panel. A compression of

the vector art data and the ARINC 453 data goes out on a coax cable to the display units.
Power Supply
The power supply supplies all the cards with power. It changes the 28v dc to the necessary voltages.
Maintenance Messages
Failures in specific cards cause some maintenance messages to show on the display units. These are the maintenance messages:
-CDS MAINT
-CDS FAULT.
The CDS MAINT message show for a partial failure of a display electronic unit (DEU). It only shows when the airplane is on the ground and at least one main engine is off. The message shows when one of these circuit cards has a failure in a DEU:
-Graphic generator
-Analog discrete input/output CCA
-Analog signal input/output CCA.
The CDS FAULT message shows when there is a total DEU failure. It only shows when the airplane is on the ground and at least one main engine is off. A total DEU failure is when any one of these circuit cards have a failure:

-Input/output controller (IOC)
-Power supply
-Processor.
The message CDS FAULT also shows if two or more of these cards have a failure in a DEU, or one has a failure in each DEU:
-Graphic generator
-Analog discrete input/output CCA
-Analog signal input/output CCA.
For example, if the graphics generator has a failure in DEU 1, and the analog input/output has a failure in DEU 2, the message CDS FAULT shows.

CDS -- EFIS CONTROL PANEL General
The EFIS control panels control the data that shows on the outboard display units. These are the controls on the panel:
-Minimums controls -Flight path vector switch -Meters switch -Barometric controls -VOR/ADF switches -Mode controls -Range selector
- Traffic switch
- Weather radar switch
- Terrain switch

-Map switches.
NOTE:  Some switches may be inactive and will be marked INOP.
The EFIS control panel is 4.6 inches (11.7 cm) by 2.5 inches (6.3 cm) and 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) deep. The panel weighs approximately 2.7 pounds (1.2 kg).
Minimums Controls
The minimum controls set the radio and barometric minimum altitudes. These are the minimums controls:
-Minimums reference selector
-Minimums selector
-Minimums reset switch.

The outer control is the minimums reference selector. It selects radio or barometric (baro) as the reference for the minimum altitude.
The middle control is the minimums selector, and it sets the minimum altitude value.
The inner control is the minimums reset (RST) switch. This switch does a reset of the radio altitude alert from amber to white when the minimums reference selector is in the radio position.
When the minimums reference selector is in the baro position, the reset switch does a reset of the baro altitude alert from amber to white or causes the readout to be blank if the alert was not on.
Flight Path Vector Switch
The flight path vector (FPV) switch is a momentary action pushbutton switch. You push the switch to cause the FPV symbol to show on the attitude display. You push the switch again to remove the FPV symbol.
Meters Switch
The meters switch (MTRS) is an momentary action pushbutton switch. When you select MTRS, these indications show in meters and feet:
