C. Prepare to Remove the Starter

(1) Open this circuit breaker on the main power distribution panel, P6, and attach the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:

Open the core cowl panels (AMM 71-11-06/201).

WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 WHEN YOU OPEN THE
_______ THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(5) Open the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
D. Procedure
S 024-033-N00
(1) Remove the starter:
(a)
Do these steps to remove the interconnect duct (1): 1) While you hold the interconnect duct (1), remove the
couplings (5). 2) Remove the interconnect duct (1) from the engine. 3) Remove the seals (6).
(b)
Do these steps to remove the starter from the engine:
CAUTION:_______DO NOT LIFT THE STARTER BY THE DRIVE SHAFT. INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE STARTER CAN OCCUR.
1) While you hold the starter (2), remove the QAD clamp (3). 2) Move the starter (2) aft until the splines on the starter drive shaft are free from the starter drive coupling.
3) Remove the starter from the engine. a) Remove and discard the packing (4).
(c) Install caps on the start valve, the interconnect duct (1), the starter (2) and the main gearbox openings.
