(h)  Do these steps to install the interconnect duct (1):
 1)  Examine the flange seal surfaces and seals (6) for scratches, cracks, and other unwanted conditions a) Replace the seal, if it is necessary.
 2) Install the seals (6) on the flanges.
 3) Put the duct (1) between the starter and the start valve.
 4) Align the index key on the duct with the index hole in the

 starter flange. a) Make sure the separation between the flanges is no more than 0.03 inch (0.76 mm). 5) Install the coupling (5) on the flange connections. a) Tighten the coupling nut to 100-115 pound-inches (11-13 newton-meters). 6) Align the index hole in the interconnect duct flange with the index key in the start valve flange.
 NOTE: You can adjust the coupling between the start valve
____ and the starter duct to make sure the start valve aligns correctly with the interconnect duct.
 a) Make sure the separation between the flanges is no more than 0.03 inch (0.76 mm). 7) Install the coupling (5) on the flange connections. a) Tighten the coupling nut to 100-115 pound-inches (11-13 newton-meters).

 CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THE CORRECT QUANTITY OF OIL IS IN THE STARTER. AN
 INCORRECT OIL LEVEL IN THE STARTER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE
 STARTER.

 (2)  Fill the starter with oil (AMM 12-13-06/301).
 G.  Return the Aircraft to Its Usual Condition

Close the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (2)  
Close the core cowl panels (AMM 71-11-06/201).

 A.  This task gives the steps to examine the starter for oil leakage and metal pieces on the magnetic chip detector.
 B.  The starter is on the aft side of the main gearbox.
 C.  To get access to the starter, open the thrust reverser halves.
 D.  It is not necessary to remove the starter from the engine to do the inspection.
