WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO THE TEST, MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO PERSONS, TOOLS,
_______ OR UNWANTED OBJECTS IN THE ENGINE INLET. MAKE A SAFE PERIMETER AROUND THE ENGINE. BAD INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1) Do an operational check of the engine starting system.
(a)
Make sure the applicable ENGINE AUTOSTART switch on the EEC panel is in the OFF position.
(b)
Pull the applicable engine START switch to the ON position.
(c)
Make sure the START switch light comes on.
(d)
Make sure the applicable (left or right) DUCT PRESS shown on the main EICAS screen is between 32-47 psig.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO OBEY THE STARTER DUTY CYCLE OR DAMAGE TO THE
_______
STARTER CAN OCCUR.
(e)
Permit the starter to motor to approximately 19 to 25 percent N2.
(f)
Listen to the starter during the operation for too much noise or other indications of defects.
(g)
Push the engine START switch to the OFF position.
(h)
Make sure the START switch light turns off.
(i)
Make sure the N2 decreases to zero.
G. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Remove the pneumatic power (Ref 36-00-00/201).

Close the thrust reverser halves (Ref 78-31-00/201).

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers for
the applicable engine:
(a) P6 Main Power Supply Panel

2) 6F2 IGN 1 ENG 2
3) 6F3 IGN 1 ENG 3
4) 6F4 IGN 1 ENG 4
5) 6G1 FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE ENG 1
6) 6G2 FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE ENG 2
7) 6G3 FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE ENG 3
8) 6G4 FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE ENG 4
9) 6G19 STBY IGN ENG 1
10) 6G20 STBY IGN ENG 2
11) 6G21 STBY IGN ENG 3
12) 6G22 STBY IGN ENG 4
13) 6K19 IGN 2 ENG 1

STARTER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure gives the steps to remove and install the starter.
B. The starter is found on the aft side of the main gearbox at the 5 o'clock position.
(1) A Quick Attach-Detach (QAD) clamp holds the starter to the main gearbox.
C. You must open the thrust reverser to get access to the starter.
