WARNING: DO NOT GET THE CLEANER IN YOUR MOUTH, OR EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN.
_______ DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE CLEANER. PUT ON A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES WHEN YOU USE THE CLEANER. KEEP THE CLEANER AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME, AND HEAT. THE CLEANER IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE CLEANER WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(1) Clean the aft mounting flange for the starter QAD adapter:
(a)
Make the clean cloth wet with the cleaner.
(b)
Use a fast, light movement to clean the mounting flange with the wet cloth.
(c)
Continue to clean the flange until there is no remaining material on the flange.

(2) Install the starter QAD adapter:
(a)
Lubricate the mating surfaces of the main gearbox pad and the QAD adapter with the silicone grease.
(b)
Put the new gasket on the QAD adapter:
1) Make sure to align the index hole in the gasket with the index pin on the adapter.
(c)
Set the QAD adapter and the gasket on the main gearbox:
1) Make sure the index pin on the adapter is at the 12 o'clock position.
(d)
Lubricate the threads of the bolts with the anti-seize compound.
(e)
Install the bolts and the washers: 1) Make sure the countersunk face of the washer is adjacent to the head of the bolt.
2) Tighten the bolts to 260-320 pound-inches (29.4-36.2 newton-meters).

A. This procedure gives the steps to remove, clean, and install the start valve filter.
B. You can find this filter in a boss on the start valve case.
C. You must open the core cowl panels to get access to this filter.
