FUEL SCAVENGE JET PUMP - INSEPCTION/CHECK
EFFECTIVITY
Airplanes with Center Tank Fuel Scavenge System
1. General
A.  The fuel scavenge jet pump is located in tank No. 1 and is mounted on front spar. The jet pump nozzle orifice can be cleaned without making a tank entry or defueling the tank. The jet pump contains a flapper valve which blocks fuel when the nozzle is removed.
2.  Equipment and Materials
A.  Leading Edge Flap Actuator Locks - F80048-36
3.  Fuel Scavenge Jet Pump Check (Fig. 601)
A.  Extend flaps and install leading edge flap locks (Ref 27-81-0 MP).
WARNING:  REFER TO 27-81-0 MP FOR LOCK INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. FLAPS ARE FAST ACTING AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
B.  Place suitable container under pump to catch fuel.
C.  Unscrew jet nozzle from pump housing, and withdraw nozzle from pump. Discard O-ring.
NOTE:  As jet nozzle is withdrawn from pump housing, the flapper valve inside pump will close to prevent fuel leakage.
D.  Check that passages of jet nozzle are clean and free of obstructions.
E.  Install new O-ring, lightly lubricated with fuel, into groove on jet nozzle.
F.  Insert jet nozzle into pump housing, screw into housing, and tighten.
G.  Remove leading edge flap locks (Ref. 27-81-0 MP).
WARNING:  REFER TO 27-81-0 MP FOR LOCK INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. FLAPS ARE FAST ACTING AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONNEL.

C.  Remove access panel (Ref 28-11-11, R/I).
4.  Remove Fuel Scavenge Shutoff Valve (Fig. 401)
A.  At front spar, disconnect electrical connector from shutoff valve.
B.  Disconnect bonding jumper from shutoff valve.
C.  Remove nut and washer securing valve to front spar.
D.  Gain access in tank No. 1.
E.  Disconnect fuel lines and remove shutoff valve. Discard O-ring.
5.  Install Fuel Scavenge Shutoff Valve (Fig. 401)
A.  Clean O-ring groove in shutoff valve body and tank No. 1 mating surface with naphtha, and wipe dry with lint free cloth.
B.  Install new O-ring, lightly lubricated with fuel, into groove in shutoff valve.
C.  Position shutoff valve thru hole in front spar and secure with washer and nut.
D.  Connect fuel lines to shutoff valve.
E.  Connect bonding jumper to shutoff valve.
F.  Connect electrical connector to shutoff valve.
G.  Check electrical bond between shutoff valve and structure per 20-22-01, I/C. Resistance shall not exceed 0.0025 ohm.
6.  Restore Airplane to Normal
A.  Install access panel (Ref 28-11-11, R/I).
B.  Remove actuator locks and retract leading edge flaps (Ref 27-81-0, MP).
