F. SIMMONDS (JCAIR) PSD40 OR PSD60 SYSTEM TESTER, Do the Resistance Check
(1)
At the applicable spar location (Fig. 601), disconnect the electrical connector from the bussing plug.
(2)
Connect the test harness to the bussing plug and the system tester.
NOTE: Do not connect the test harness to the connector that goes to the indicator.
(3)
Set the power switch on the test unit to ON.
(4)
Set the FUNCTION SEL switch to MEG (not SELF TEST MEG) (PSD40-1) or set the FUNCT switch to MEASURE EXT (PSD60-1).
(5)
Set the FUNCTION MEASURE switch (PSD40-1) or set the SELECT switch (PSD60-1) to LOZ - HIZ.
(6)
Read the total resistance for the tank units.
(a) Make sure the resistance shown on the test unit is more than 250 megohms.
(7)
Set the FUNCTION MEASURE switch (PSD40-1) or set the SELECT switch (PSD60-1) to COMP-HIZ.
(8)
Read the total resistance for the compensator.
(a) Make sure the resistance shown on the system tester is more than 250 megohms.
(9)
Set the FUNCTION MEASURE switch (PSD40-1) or set the SELECT switch (PSD60-1) to each of the SHLD or GND positions.
(a) Make sure the minimum resistance agrees with the values shown in this table:
(10)
If a resistance value is less than the minimum value, do a check for a short circuit in one of these areas (Ref 28-41-21/501 or 28-41-02/501):

G. BARFIELD 8000 SYSTEM TESTER, Do the Resistance Check
(1)
At the applicable spar location (Fig. 601), disconnect the electrical connector from the bussing plug.
(2)
Connect the test harness to the bussing plug and the system tester.
NOTE: Do not connect the test harness to the connector that goes to the indicator.
(3)
Set the TEST FUNCTION switch on the test unit to INSULATION.
(4)
Set the battery switch to ON.
(5)
Turn the METER ADJUST knob until the meter is at its maximum value.
(6)
Set the INS TEST POINTS switch to LO-Z/HI-Z
(7)
Read the total resistance for the tank unit.
(a) Make sure the resistance shown on the test unit is more than 250 megohms.
(8)
Set the INS TEST POINTS switch to each of the SHLD or GND positions shown below.
(a) Make sure that each resistance shown on the test unit is more than the applicable minimum resistance:
(9)
Disconnect the UNSHIELDED wire bundle of the test harness from the INSULATION LO-Z receptacle on the test unit.
(10)
Connect the COMP wire bundle to the INSULATION LO-Z receptacle.
(11)
Set the INS TEST POINTS switch to LO-Z/HI-Z.
(12)
Read the resistance of the compensator.
(a) Make sure the resistance shown on the system tester is more than 250 megohms.
(13)
Set the INS TEST POINTS switch to each of the SHLD or GND positions shown below.
(a) Make sure that each resistance shown on the test unit is more than the applicable minimum resistance.
(14)
If a resistance value is less than the minimum value, do a check for a short circuit in one of these areas (Ref. 28-41-21/501 or 28-41-02/501):
