B. Test Harnesses
NOTE: Quality of test cabling must be controlled, especially in regard to stray capacitance.
Stray capacitance for test cables shall be less than 0.2 pf.

3. Fuel Quantity Indicating System -Trim
A. Prepare for trim
(1)
Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-0 MP).
(2)
Defuel applicable tank(s) and drain sump fuel (Ref 28-23-0 MP).
(3)
Open fuel QTY and EP GRD FUELING circuit breakers on P6 panel.
(4)
Remove P2 fuel quantity indicator (Fig. 501), disconnect connector, and connect P2 test harness (Fig. 502).
B. Trim fuel quantity indicating system.
(1)
Close fuel QTY and EP GRD FUELING circuit breakers on P6 panel.
(2)
Warm up system for five minutes.
(3)
With system tester function switch in A/C TEST-COMP position, measure compensator capacitance. Value should be 39.0 士1.2 pf.
(4)
Set function switch to A/C TEST UNSH and measure capacitance of tank units. Compare measured value with capacitance value given in Fig. 503, Table I.
(5)
If tank unit capacitance is not within Table I tolerance, perform system adjustment (par. 4).
(6)
If tank units capacitance is within tolerance, adjust applicable capacitance trimmer (Fig. 501) so digital display on system tester reads exact tank capacitance given in Fig. 503, Table I.
C. Check indicator full values.
(1)
With tester in SIM SET - COMP, adjust SIMULATORS-COMP to 42.6 pf.
(2)
Set function switch to SIM SET - PROBE. Adjust SIMULATORS-PROBE to ADDED CAPACITANCE value given in Fig. 503, Table II.
(3)
Set function switch to IND TEST A/C + PROBE SIM + COMP SIM position. P2 fuel quantity indication shall be FULL VALUE (Fig. 503, Table II).
D. Test indicator operation (Airplanes with digital indicators).
(1)
Record P2 fuel quantity indicator full reading.
(2)
Record P15 fueling quantity indicator full reading.
(3)
Compare values recorded in steps (1) and (2). Reading of P15 indicator must agree with
reading of P2 indicator within the following tolerances:
Tanks 1 or 2 士10 kgs
Center Tank士10 kgs
(4)
Press P2 push-to-test switch, and ensure P2 indicators count down to zero, and error code 3 is displayed within 7 seconds.
(5)
Release P2 push-to-test switch, and ensure P2 indicator displays clear and then turns on all segments of display prior to returning to reading recorded in step (1) within 士10 kgs.
NOTE: P15 indicator will track P2 indicator to zero and remain there until test is complete.
(6)
Hold P15 test gages and fueling switch in TEST GAGES position and ensure:
(a)
P15 indicators count down to zero and error code 8 is displayed.
(b)
P2 indicators count up and error code 9 is displayed. After counting up to 110 percent full value, P2 indicator will display zero fuel and error code 9.
(7)
Release P15 test gages and fueling switch and ensure:
(a)
P15 indicators display zero momentarily, and then light up all segments prior to returning to reading recorded in step (5) within士10 kgs.
