On AFCS control panel, set the A/T OFF/ARM switch to ARM. Verify that green switch light comes on and that ARM is annunciated.
(6)
Turn PDC CDU rotary switch to STBY and press the (-) key and select TEST page 3-(X). Verify that the sixth bit from the left on the first line of data is 1 as shown below.
NOTE: This means that the PDC is receiving the A/T ARMED voltage.

Disengage the A/T and reset the warning lights. On PDC CDU, verify that the A/T ARMED bit is a 0.

Turn PDC CDU rotary switch back to takeoff (TO) position.
(9)
Set the A/T OFF/ARM switch to ARM. Verify that ARM is annunciated.
(10)
Press one of the Go-Around switches on the thrust levers. Verify that the thrust levers drive forward.
(11)
Manually stop the thrust levers at about the mid-position and restrain them.
(12)
Verify that EPR is annunciated instead of ARM.
(13)
Increase airspeed input to 65 knots.
(14)
Verify that THR HOLD is annunciated and that the thrust levers stop driving.
(15)
Increase the captain's simulated airspeed to 180 knots and check that there is no change in A/T annunciation.
(16)
Simulate airplane in air by opening the LANDING GEAR - LIGHTS circuit breaker and begin timing.
(17)
Verify that (approximately 20 +5 seconds after opening circuit breaker) THR HOLD annunciation drops out and ARM annunciates.
(18)
Increase the captain's simulated airspeed to 250 knots and select 11,000 feet on AFCS control panel. Then increase Captain's simulated altitude to 11,000 feet. Check that A/T mode changes and SPEED is annunciated.
(19)
Select 10,000 feet on AFCS control panel. On PDC CDU select CRZ mode.
(20)
On AFCS control panel, press V NAV/PDC to ON. Allow the thrust levers to drive aft. Check that A/T mode changes and A/T annunciation automatically changes from RETARD to ARM.
(21)
Reduce Captain's simulated altitude to 10,000 feet. Check that A/T mode changes and PDC SPD is annunciated.
(22)
Disengage A/T and reset lights.

E. Speed Mode (IAS and MACH) Test
(1)
Establish the following initial conditions:
(a)
Angle-of-airflow sensor: 2 degrees trailing edge up.
(b)
Simulated airspeed (Captain's): 325 knots
(c)
Simulated altitude (Captain's): 10,000 feet
(d)
Radio altitude: 2,200 feet
(e)
EPR: 1.0
(f)
Flap position: 0 degrees
(g)
Both throttle levers: mid-position

Simulate airplane in the air by opening the LANDING GEAR-LIGHTS circuit breaker.
(3)
Simulate Gear-Up by setting landing gear handle to OFF.
CAUTION: VERIFY THAT ALL THREE LANDING GEAR ARE LOCKED OR THE LANDING GEAR MIGHT COLLAPSE DAMAGING THE AIRPLANE.
(4)
Select CRZ on PDC CDU and engage PDC.
(5)
On AFCS mode control panel,
(a)
Set F/D switch to ON (toggle position up)
(b)
Disengage autopilot
(c)
Select 10,000 feet altitude
(d)
Select ALT HLD mode
(e)
Set A/T switch to ARM

Verify that the IAS/Mach window indicates 325 knots, that the thrust levers do not move from mid-position and that the FAST/SLOW indicators on the ADI's remain at zero. Verify that A/T SPEED is annunciated on FMA's.
(7)
Dial the IAS/Mach indication to 340 knots. Verify that the thrust levers advance and the FAST/SLOW indicators indicate SLOW (approximately full scale).
(8)
Dial the IAS/Mach indicator to 310 knots. Verify that the thrust levers retard and the FAST/SLOW indicators indicate FAST (approximately full scale).
(9)
Dial the IAS/Mach indicator to 325 knots and place the thrust levers at half-full-travel position.
