C. Test Flight Control Switches Interlock
(1)
Engage YAW DAMPER engage switch and position FLT CONTROL B switch to OFF. Observe that YAW DAMPER engage switch disengages.
(2)
Return FLT CONTROL B switch to ON.
(3)
Engage YAW DAMPER engage switch.
(4)
Position FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF. Observe that YAW DAMPER engage switch does not disengage.
(5)
Return FLT CONTROL A switch to ON.
(6)
Disengage yaw damper.
D. Test Yaw Damper System Response
(1)
Station observer facing tail of airplane to monitor rudder deflection.
(2)
Engage YAW DAMPER engage switch.
(3)
Place and hold YAW DAMPER TEST switch, on center instrument panel, in R (right) position. Observe that yaw damper indicator deflects right momentarily and returns to center (zero) and rudder momentarily deflects right and returns to center.
(4)
Release YAW DAMPER TEST switch. Observe that rudder momentarily deflects left and returns to center.
(5)
Place and hold YAW DAMPER TEST switch in L (left) position. Observe that yaw damper indicator deflects left momentarily and returns to center (zero) and rudder momentarily deflects left and returns to zero.
(6)
Release YAW DAMPER TEST switch. Observe that rudder momentarily deflects right and returns to center.

E. Test Yaw Damper Continuity
(1)
Position FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF and repeat steps D(2) thru D(6). Observe that results are satisfactory.
(2)
Position FLT CONTROL A switch to ON and position FLT CONTROL B switch to OFF. Observe YAW DAMPER disengage switch disengages.
F. Check Self-Test Switches and Warning Lights
(1) Position BITE switch to ARM and observe AUTOPILOT DISENGAGED lights illuminating steadily. Attempt to extinguish AUTOPILOT DISENGAGED lights by depressing light caps on both instrument panels and autopilot disengaged buttons on both control wheels. Lights do not extinguish regardless of engaged or disengaged status of autopilot.
G. Yaw Damper Self-Test
(1)
General
(a)
All systems associated with yaw damper operation must be turned on. Line voltage must be 115 +5.8 volts ac and 28 +1.4 volts dc.
(b)
Autopilot warning lights will come on steady when any BITE switch is positioned to ARM.
(c)
Airspeed must be at zero knots.
(d)
When self-testing, the yaw damper is engaged unless stated otherwise during the test. Steps (tests) do not have to be completed in sequence unless stated otherwise in a test. When a step says "repeat" or a particular test is desired, cycle BITE switch to off then to ARM and press GO switch repeatedly until one less than desired test is indicated; allow to run to completion; ignore fail indication and then press GO to advance to desired test.

Test 1 - Rate Gyro Filter 1) Engage yaw damper and ensure hydraulics are on.
2) Press GO switch. Observe after 1 ON OFF 1 second.
(c)
Test 2 - Engage Null 1) Engage yaw damper and ensure hydraulics are on (from Test 1).
2) Press GO switch. Observe after 2 ON OFF 6 seconds.
(d)
Test 3 - Rate to Rudder (Displacement) 1) Ensure yaw damper is engaged
and hydraulics are on (from Test 2). 2) Press GO switch. Observe after 3 ON OFF 1 second.
(e)
Test 4 - Rate to Rudder (Integral) 1) Ensure yaw damper is engaged and hydraulics are on (from Test 3).
2) Press GO switch. Observe after 4 ON OFF 45 seconds.
(f) Test 5 - Trim Meter 1) Ensure yaw damper is engaged and hydraulics are on (from Test 4).
2) Press GO switch. Observe after 5 ON OFF 8 seconds.
(g)
Test 6 - Disengage Synchronization 1) Disengage yaw dampers and ensure hydraulics are off.
2) Press GO switch. Observe after 6 ON OFF 6 seconds.
(h)
Test 7 - Rate Gyro 1) Ensure yaw dampers are disengaged and hydraulics are off (from Test 6). 2) Press GO switch. Observe after 7 ON OFF
