Test 3 – EPR XMTR – Verifies 1.0 EPR.
Test 4 – AIR DATA – Checks ARINC 429 Receiver Update Rate.
Test 5 – A/P – Checks ARINC 429 bus from AFCS control panel.
Test 6 – MODE ANN.F/S – Tests Mode Annunciator Indications and Fast Slow.
(8) The following describes TEST FAIL codes for A/T BITE tests A, B, and C and 3. Tests D thru 2 and 4 thru 6 provide pass (P) or fail (F) indications only.
Test A 0 CPU Test Fail 1 PROM Fail 2 D to A Converter Fail 3 A to D Converter Fail 4 Discrete Input Fail 5 Discrete Output Fail 6 Throttle Hold Fail or A/T Engage/Disengage Switch Fail 7 ARINC 429 Cards Fail
Test B 1 Left Thrust Lever Position
Out-Of-Tolerance
2 Right Thrust Lever Position
Out-Of-Tolerance
Test C 1 Left Throttle Servo Fail
2 Right Throttle Servo Fail
Test 3 1 Left EPR Signal Fail
2 Right EPR Signal Fail
Example: For a right EPR signal failure the Hexadecimal display will show:
3 - F - 2 - 3 - F - 2 - 3 - F - 2 . . . . etc.
Where 3 is the test identifier, F indicates FAIL and 2 is the fail code.

B. Establish the following initial conditions for A/T BITE test:
(1)
Simulated airspeed (Captain's): Less than 50 knots
(2)
Radio Altitude: 0 feet (normal on ground indication)
(3)
EPR: 1.0 (engines off)
(4)
Flap position lever: 0 degrees (trailing edge flaps full up)
(5)
LANDING GEAR - LIGHTS circuit breaker: Closed
(6)
Landing gear handle: Down
(7)
All thrust levers: Idle (full aft)
(8)
Both Flight Director Systems: Any Mode
(9)
Autothrottle System: Disengaged
(10)
Autothrottle warning lights: Out
C. Perform Autothrottle System BITE
(1)
Select STBY position on PDC CDU and enter the test pages by pressing the RCL key and then the minus (-) key.
(2)
Press the PDC CDU PAGE key until page 4-(X) appears which is titled: A/T TEST 4-(X).
(3)
Verify that both A/T disengage warning lights illuminate steady when test page 4-(X) is selected on the PDC CDU. This indicates that the A/T computer has entered the BITE Test Mode.
(4)
Engage the autothrottle by lifting the paddle switch to ARM.
(5)
Press the ENGAGE button on the PDC the first time, wait for a test A PASS or FAIL indication on CRT. If a PASS is indicated, verify that A/T disengages. If a FAIL is indicated, disengage the A/T before proceeding.
NOTE: Before doing BITE Test B, manually move the thrust levers slightly away from the aft stops (about 0.20 inch) and then return them to aft stops. The purpose of doing this is to avoid possible nuisance FAIL indications of BITE tests B and C.
(6)
Press the ENGAGE button again and wait for a test B PASS or FAIL indication on CRT.
(7)
Re-engage A/T for test C.
(8)
Press the ENGAGE button and wait for a Test C PASS or FAIL indication on CRT. Verify that thrust levers cycle forward and aft during Test C.
(9)
Press the ENGAGE button for tests D, E, 0 and 1 and wait for a PASS or FAIL indication on the CRT for each test.
(10)
Press the ENGAGE button for tests 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
(11)
During test 6, verify that the autothrottle exercises the annunciator panel and the FAST/SLOW needles in the following sequence and then repeats this sequence a second time.
