E. Functional Test Actuator
(1)
Assure pilot's control wheel is centered in neutral position.
(2)
Assure aileron trim is set at zero.
(3)
Disconnect wiring from aileron position sensor and connect J-3 (A SENSOR) from test set to sensor (sensor is located near the aileron power control unit input shaft in wheel well).
(4)
Connect vacuum tube voltmeter (VTVM) to LVDT FEEDBACK - A jacks, J10A and J11A.
(5)
Connect second VTVM to NSS FEEDBACK - A, jacks J7A and J8A.
(6)
Set switches on test set as follows:
(a)
LVDT FEEDBACK - A ON, B OFF
(b)
LVDT EXCITATION - A ON, B OFF
(c)
SOLENOID EXCITATION - (PISTON and ENGAGE) A ON, B OFF
(d)
NSS EXCITATION - A ON, B OFF
(e)
NSS FEEDBACK - A OFF, B OFF
(f)
CURRENT SELECT - A T-VALVE
(g)
SOLENOIDS ON/OFF (Center Switch) - ON
(h)
A&B SOLENOID - A NORM, B NORM
(i)

NOTE: All other lights should be OFF.
(8)
Assure both hydraulic systems A and B are ON.
(9)
Apply a command signal as required, by turning POSITION CONTROL A knob and check for aileron deflections within the following tolerances:
Right Aileron
Test LVDT Output Aileron Sensor Output
Condition (J10A and J11A) Position (a) (J7A and J8A)

(a)
Linear measurements are between point "A" (center of index plate on structure) and point "B" (center of index plate on inboard end of aileron).
(b)
Optional angular measurement: 5.00 +0.50 degrees.
Return POSITION CONTROL A knob to Minimum Command position after completion of test.
(10)
Disconnect VTVM's.
(11)
Disconnect J-3 (A SENSOR) from aileron position sensor and connect J-4 (B SENSOR) from test set to sensor.
(12)
Connect VTVM to LVDT FEEDBACK - B, jacks J10B and J11B.
(13)
Connect second VTVM to NSS FEEDBACK - B, jacks J7B and J8B.
(14)
Set switches on test set as follows:
