Place VERTICAL GYRO transfer switch to CAPT ON AUX. Observe that A/P ENGAGE A switch drops to OFF and can be re-engaged to CMD. Open AUX VG STBY ALT circuit breaker. Check that autopilot A disengages and cannot be re-engaged and captains F/D command bars and flag are out of view. Reset circuit breaker.

Place VERTICAL GYRO transfer switch to NORM then place A/P ENGAGE B switch to CMD.
(d)
Place VERTICAL GYRO transfer switch to F/O on AUX. Observe that A/P ENGAGE B switch drops to OFF and can be re-engaged to CMD. Open AUX VG ALT circuit breaker. Check that autopilot B disengages and cannot be re-engaged and first officers F/D command bars and flag are out of view. Reset circuit breaker.

Place VERTICAL GYRO transfer to NORMAL.

Test A/P and F/D Compass Circuit Breakers Interlock
(a)
With COMPASS transfer switch on overhead panel in NORMAL position, place autopilot A engage switch to CMD. Open COMPASS-1 circuit breaker. Check that autopilot disengages and warning lights flash. Reset lights.
(b)
Repeat (a) with channel B autopilot engaged by opening COMPASS-2 circuit breaker. Reset circuit breakers.
(c)
Place A F/D switch ON. With LOC tuned (no signals required), push APP on MCP. Verify that VOR/LOC ARM is annunciated on flight mode annunciator (FMA).
(d)
Move COMPASS transfer switch to BOTH ON 2, verify that CAPT FMA still annunciate VOR/LOC ARM. Move transfer switch back to NORMAL.
(e)
Place B F/D switch ON. Verify that both FMA's annunciate VOR/LOC ARM.
(f)
Move COMPASS transfer switch to BOTH ON 2. Verify that CAPT FMA does not annunciate VOR/LOC ARM. Move transfer switch back to NORMAL.
(g)
Move COMPASS transfer switch to BOTH ON 1. Verify that F/O FMA does not annunciate VOR/LOC ARM. Move transfer switch back to NORMAL.
(h)
Place A F/D switch to OFF. Move COMPASS transfer switch to BOTH ON 1. Verify that F/O FMA still show VOR/LOC ARM. Move transfer switch back to NORMAL. Place B F/D switch to OFF.

Test A/P Cruise Trim Cutout Switch Interlock
(a)
Place autopilot cruise trim cutout switch to CUTOUT and attempt to engage autopilot
A. Observe that it is not possible to move the A/P ENGAGE A switch from the OFF position.
(b)
Place autopilot cruise trim cutout switch to NORMAL.
(c)
Repeat steps (a) and (b) using A/P ENGAGE B switch.

Test A/P Manual Stabilizer Trim Interlock
(a)
Ensure manual stabilizer trim circuit breakers are closed and main electric stabilizer trim cutout switch is to NORMAL.
(b)
Place A/P ENGAGE A switch to CMD. Operate stabilizer trim switch on captain's control wheel to trim-up position. Observe autopilot disengages. Reset warning circuits.
(c)
Place A/P ENGAGE A switch to CMD. Operate stabilizer trim switch on captain's control wheel to trim-down position. Observe autopilot disengages. Reset warning circuits.
(d)
Repeat steps (b) and (c) using trim switches on first officer's control wheel.
(e)
Repeat steps (b) thru (d) using A/P ENGAGE B switch.

Test Mode Control Panel 28VDC Switching
(a)
Open Group A circuit breakers (Ref 2.B.(20)(d)).
(b)
Place A/P ENGAGE B switch to CMD. Select VOR frequency on VAR NAV control panels. Select VOR/LOC mode. Check that VOR pushbutton light is on.
(c)
Open AUTOTHROTTLE DC circuit breaker. Check that VOR pushbutton light goes out.
(d)
Disengage A/P. Close AUTOTHROTTLE DC circuit breaker.

(a) AP/FD BITE is controlled and displayed on PDC CDU. The following switches and associated unique functions on PDC CDU are used. 1) ENGAGE pushbutton - used as progress control (GO switch) by pressing to
display test instructions, then pressing to display additional test instructions or initiate test; after test completed, pressed to go to next test. Also used to provide (yes) response to CDU question.
