(10) Perform AP/FD BITE
(a)
Switch PDC CDU mode control switch to STBY. Press RCL, then press PAGE
forward until the following is displayed:
A/P TEST 5-X
TEST
SYMPTOM/PIREP
TEST DESIRED
ENG = Y, ENT = NO
(b)
Verify that A/P warning light are illuminated steady. Course and Heading displays on the MCP indicate their originally selected values. Verify air data instruments and radio altimeters are indicating normal airplane-on-ground display.
(c)
Symptom/Pilot Report tests are selected by pressing ENG (Yes) following "SYMPTOM/PIREP TEST DESIRED" message (Ref 22-11-01, Trouble Shooting).
(d)
Select Ground Functional Tests by pressing ENT (no) after SYMPTOM/PIREP TEST DESIRED message. Verify that GROUND FUNCT TEST DESIRED message is displayed. Press ENG (yes) to select GROUND FUNCT TEST. The operator can then step through the ground functional tests by pressing ENG after each set up message is displayed and the setups have been made; or after the WANT NEXT TEST message.
(e)
Select desired channel by pressing ENG (yes) for Channel A or ENT (no) to select channel B. Check that CDU displays a test number and setup instructions.
(f)
Perform instructions using CDU switches as previously described and keyboard. Observe following typical CDU display at test completion:

NOTE: Test group number ( 2) is displayed to left of decimal point. The channel B test group number is (52). Subtest (1) is displayed to right of decimal point. Also each library test has subtests of its own, these numbers are indicated after the word SUBTEST. The value of data is displayed in decimal or hexadecimal format.
GROUND FUNCTIONAL TESTS (2) or (52)
NOTE: To run a particular test, press ENT on tests not required to be run until the next test is the desired one, then press ENG. If "FCC FAILED, EXIT BITE, PUSH CDU PAGE" appears, prior to start of the tests, push ENT to bypass this condition. If POWER INTERRUPT appears during non-surface tests, follow displayed instructions to restart test.
Test Failed At the end of test, the BITE will inform the operator that a problem exists and asks if diagnostics are required. Pressing ENG to cycle through Problems 1, 2... etc. with associated LRU diagnostics. When a failure occurs during non-surface tests and displayed after sub test .44 surface BITE tests cannot be performed until ground functional test is reinitiated and non-surface tests are skipped.
Test Passed
At the end of test, the BITE will inform the operator with a TEST PASSED message.
