3.  Perform BITE Trouble Shooting
A.  Perform system initialize steps as listed on PDC CDU and provide requested responses thru CDU.
B.  Refer to paragraphs 5 thru 25 for reference list of tests corresponding to test selected. Refer to paragraph 26 for BITE data readouts which may be displayed for added information.
NOTE:  The approximate total times listed in par. 6 thru 25 include time to initialize and exit BITE. BITE initialization requires approximately 20 seconds for nonsurface and surface tests and 15 seconds to exit BITE from either test.
C.  A failure during BITE is indicated by a TEST FAILED display immediately after the failed subtest. The operator may select diagnostics or push ENG to continue BITE until all subtests are completed. TEST FAILED message is then repeated and pressing ENG will select diagnostics. Diagnostic readout will provide LRU identification for failed steps.
NOTE:  When a failure is indicated for any nonsurface test, BITE will not enter a surface test. In ground functional test only, nonsurface and surface tests can be bypassed individually allowing the operator the choice of single tests or a combination of tests.
NOTE:  Surface test BITE failure for aileron or elevator may be due to faulty shear rivets in the actuator lever arm assemblies. Refer to actuator R/I, 22-11-251 or 22-11-261.
D.  Replace component(s) as indicated and repeat BITE test for system replacement verification.
E.  To exit BITE, page PDC CDU away from page 5-5 or select PDC mode switch to position other than STBY.
F.  At the completion of trouble shooting, exit BITE, remove hydraulic power and remove electrical power if no longer required.
