On airplanes with CADC, place selector switch (on face of No. 1 computer) in ALT MON position. Press toggle switch to MON for approximately 2 seconds and observe that the autopilot disengages.

On airplanes with DADC, place selector switch (on face of No. 1 computer) in FAIL position. Depress PUSH TO TEST button for approximately 2 seconds and observe that the autopilot disengages.

Return computer selector switch to normal operating position.

On GJ B-2511 and on, select an ILS frequency and place NAV mode select switch in AUTO/APP position. Place the captain HSI switch to OMEGA position. Observe that NAV mode select switch returns to MAN position, and cannot be rotated to AUTO/APP position.

NOTE: This test assumes zero VOR deviation signal and valid NAV superflag and operating OMEGA system.
(a)
Apply a VOR frequency and engage AIL engage switch.
(b)
Engage HDG SEL switch. Check that approach progress display (APD) HDG SEL illuminates green.
(c)
Disengage AIL engage switch. Observe that HDG SEL switch disengages.
(d)
Engage AIL engage switch and engage HDG SEL switch.
(e)
Place mode select switch in VOR/LOC position. Observe that HDG SEL switch disengages. Return mode select switch to MAN.
(f)
Engage HDG SEL switch.
(g)
Turn either control wheel out of detent. Observe that HDG SEL switch disengages and that HDG SEL mode cannot be selected.
(h)
Disengage autopilot.
(i)
Engage AIL engage switch. Place mode select switch in HDG OFF position and then disengage AIL engage switch. Observe that mode select switch returns to MAN position.
(j)
Engage AIL engage switch. Place mode select switch in HDG OFF position, and select NAV. Observe that mode select switch returns to MAN position and that HDG OFF mode cannot be selected.
(k)
Return the heading select switch to the OFF position.
(l)
Engage AIL engage switch and place mode select switch in HDG OFF position. Engage HDG SEL switch. Observe mode select switch returns to MAN position and that HDG OFF mode cannot be selected. Disengage HDG SEL switch.
(m)
Engage AIL engage switch and place mode select switch in HDG OFF position. Observe that rotating the control wheel out of detent requires 1.5 to 2.8 pound-feet of torque.
NOTE: Torque valves in excess of 2.8 pounds-feet may indicate an incorrectly installed aileron force limiter.
(n)
Disengage autopilot.
