Entrance Enclosure
Entry into the upper door 1 crew rest compartment is through an enclosure located
in the passenger cabin near door 1L. The entrance to the crew rest compartment
has the same external appearance as a lavatory, but is placarded for crew use and
utilizes a cipher lock for security.
The entrance enclosure contains a compartment main control panel.

An amber call/reset light/switch is mounted on the exterior wall above the
entrance door. When smoke is detected in the compartment, the light flashes.
Conditioned air is used to provide temperature control and ventilation to the upper
door 1 crew rest compartment. When using the compartment, conditioned air
flow must be available. An amber SUPPLY AIRFLOW OFF light on the main
control panel in the entrance enclosure illuminates when conditioned air is not
available.
Before entering the crew rest compartment, ensure that conditioned air flow is
available. Verify that the SUPPLY AIRFLOW OFF light on the control panel in
the entrance enclosure is not illuminated.
Note: The SUPPLY AIRFLOW OFF light will be illuminated when the airplane
is below 25,000 feet.
Note: If the airplane is above 25,000 feet and the SUPPLY AIRFLOW OFF light
is illuminated, pushing the AIRFLOW / SMOKE RESET switch resets the
conditioned air system.

WARNING: If the SUPPLY AIRFLOW OFF light remains illuminated
after the AIRFLOW / SMOKE RESET switch has been
pushed, the upper door 1 crew rest compartment should not be
occupied.
Crew Rest Layout
The upper door 1 crew rest compartment contains the following:
• a curtained off common area containing:
• temperature control panel
• area lighting switches
• horn shut off switch
• interphone handset
• smoke detector
• flashlight
• service power outlet
• coat hooks, mirror, stowage
• a curtained off seat area containing:
• 1 seat
• controls/warning panel
• interphone handset
• PSU
• smoke detector

Main Control Panel
The upper door 1 crew rest compartment main control panel is located inside the
entrance enclosure.
Push -
• turns the common seating area lights in the compartment on (light
illuminated)/off (light extinguished).

Horn sounds when:
• airplane decompression occurs (pulsating)
• smoke is detected in the overhead crew rest area (continuous)
Push -
• silences the decompression alert horn
• silences the smoke detector system alert horn
Guarded switch.
Push and hold (2 seconds) -
• resets the airflow to the compartment
Note: The AIRFLOW / SMOKE RESET switch is inoperative when the airplane
is below 25, 000 feet.
Illuminated (amber) -
• compartment airflow exhaust valves are open or during smoke detection
mode operations
• the compartment airflow is off
Note: A HI/LO chime will sound 5 times in the compartment whenever
the air supply shutoff valve is commanded closed.
Note: The SUPPLY AIRFLOW OFF light will be illuminated when the airplane
