to talk and listen. At the lower left corner of figure 42-1, the airplane
servicing stations are shown. The interphone jacks are located at 7
servicing stations on the airplane. Figure 42-2 shows these jacks
position.
Fig. 42-2 interphone jack locations
[2] Figure 42-3 illustrates the service interphone system block diagram.
Two 28 volt dc power sources supply power to the system through a
single INPH AND WARN circuit breaker on the P6 panel. Attendants
may communicate with each other or with crew member in the flight
compartment by using the
handset at their station. The
equipment used by the flight
crew may be either a control
stand handset or headsets and
microphones (including oxygen
mask microphone and hand hold
microphone), all of these are
controlled by the audio
control panels. The
service interphone
switch connects the
microphone lines of the service
station jacks to the service
interphone system. The switch is
a toggle switch with ON and
OFF positions. When the switch
is on the ON position, the
microphone lines from the
service station jacks are
connected to the service
interphone system enabling
communication between all
stations. In the event of a faulty
service jack, the flight crew can
position the switch to OFF and
prevent the jack from interfering
with interphone communication.
[3] The crew call system is a three-way alerting system that signals crew
members to use the interphone system. Three types of crew call systems
are as follows:
 captain call ------- a HI tone chime sounds and the captain's CALL
light comes on to advise the pilots that a call has been made from the
cabin attendants or the ground crew.
 Attendant call ------ a two-tone chime sounds and the pink master call
lights come on when an attendant call is made from the flight
compartment or any attendant panel (the handsets are located on
forward and aft attendant panels).
 Ground crew call ----- when the ground crew call switch is pushed in
the flight compartment, a horn comes on in the nose wheel well
where it can readily be heard by ground service personnel.

[4] Figure 42-5 illustrates the crew call system component locations.

 The ground crew call horn is located at the forward end and inside of
the nose wheel well.
 The external power panel is located just forward of the nose wheel
well on the right side of the airplane.
 The master call lights are on the forward and aft exit locator sign
located on the passenger cabin ceiling.
 The forward attendant panel is located in the forward service area.
The attendant call relay is located behind the forward attendant panel.
The aft attendant panel is located in the aft service area.
