TEXT
[1] The electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) provides displays for most of
the airplane navigational systems. The EFIS provides color displays of pitch and
roll, navigational maps, weather, radio altitude, decision height, autopilot and
flight path information. It also provides displays of airspeed, ADF/VOR
bearings, ILS data, and stall warning information. The EFIS includes electronic
attitude director indicator (EADI), electronic horizontal situation indicator
(EHSI), symbol generator (SG), control panel, transfer switch and associated
relays.

[2] The EFIS control panel controls display modes and ranges, allows selection
of decision height (DH), and provides the weather radar system ON/OFF control.
The control panel is powered by 115 volt ac, 400Hz.

The EFIS control panel is subdivided into EADI control and EHSI control as
illustrated in figure 21-2.
 EADI controls
On the left side of EFIS control panel, the BRT knob controls the brightness
level of EADI display. The DH REF liquid crystal display window shows the
selected decision height. The decision height set knob is a 24-detent,
continuous-turn control knob which selects the decision height. The RST button
is used to reset the DH-Alert on the EADI.
 EHSI controls
The RANGE knob selects the range for the navigation, traffic alert and
collision avoidance system (TCAS), and weather radar data displays on the
EHSI. The TFC button on the range control allows TCAS traffic to be displayed
on the EHSI when activated. If TCAS is not installed, this button will be
covered and have no effect on the EFIS displays. The mode selector selects
mode of data to be displayed on the EHSI.
Two concentric BRT knob are provided for the EHSI display, the outer
controls the overall brightness of the EHSI display, the inner controls the
relative brightness of the weather radar display.
The weather radar ON/OFF switch is a push off/push on switch, it enables
the display of weather radar information on the EHSI.
The MAP mode display selector includes 5 square push-on/push-off
switches, any or all MAP display switches may be actuated at the same time.
