3) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
C. Check of belt tension
1) Position a spring scale on belt (10), between idler pulley (11) and compressor (5).
2) Pull upwards to obtain 3 to 4.8 lbf (13.3 to 21.4 N).
3) Maintain tension and measure deflection which must be equal to 0.12 in (3 mm).
4) If necessary, repeat the adjustment operation - refer to Paragraph D.
D. Adjustment of belt tension
1) Unlock and loosen the nut of idler pulley (11).
2) Moderately tension belt (10) by pivoting idler pulley (11) ; tighten nut.
3) Fully rotate propeller twice.
4) Check the tension of belt (10) - refer to Paragraph C.
5) If necessary, repeat the adjustment operation.
6) When the value is obtained, fully rotate the propeller twice and re-check the belt tension.
7) Torque the nut of idler pulley (11) - refer to 20-00-01.
8) Lockwire the nut of idler pulley (11).
NOTE : If belt (10) has been replaced, tension must be re-checked after one operation hour.

E. Final steps
1) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris.
2) Install the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
3) Remove the warning sign prohibiting main switch-breaker operation.
4) Perform an operational test of the vapor cycle cooling system - refer to 21-55-00, page 501.
