(a) The ADF flag shows on the radio magnetic indicator (RMI).

The ADF flags show when RMI receives an invalid signal from the automatic direction finder (ADF) receivers.
(3)
The ADF flags are shown on the left and right sides of the RMI.
B. Possible Causes
(1)
ADF receiver 1, M1731.
(2)
ADF receiver 2, M1732.
(3)
RMI, N185..
(4)
Wiring between the RMI and the ADF receivers.
C. Initial Evaluation
(1)
Make sure the switches on the RMI are in the ADF position.
(2)
If the ADF flag does not show on the RMI, then there was an intermittent fault.
(3)
If the ADF flag shows on the RMI, then continue.
D. Fault Isolation Procedure
(1) If the ADF flag shows on the left side of the RMI, then do these steps:
(a)
Do

(b)
If there is a fault that relates to the ADF receiver 1, then do the FIM task to clear that message.
1) If the ADF flag does not show on the left side of the RMI, then you corrected the fault.
(c)
If there is no fault that relates to the ADF receiver 1, then continue.
(d)
Do this check of the wiring between the ADF receiver 1 and the RMI: 1) Remove the ADF receiver 1. To remove it, do this task: ADF Receiver Removal, AMM TASK 34-57-03-000-801. 2) Remove the RMI. To remove it, do this task: Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) Removal,
AMM TASK 34-22-01-000-801. 3) Do a wiring check between these pins of connectors D3679 and D3651B:

4) If you find a problem with the wiring, then do these steps: a) Repair the wiring. b) Re-install the ADF receiver 1. To install it, do this task: ADF Receiver Installation,
AMM TASK 34-57-03-400-801. c) Re-install the RMI. To install it, do this task: Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) Installation, AMM TASK 34-22-01-400-801. d) If the ADF flag does not show on the left side of the RMI, then you corrected the fault. 5) If you do not find a problem with wiring, then do these steps: a) Re-install the ADF receiver 1. To install it, do this task: ADF Receiver Installation, AMM TASK 34-57-03-400-801. b) Install a new RMI. To install it, do this task: Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) Installation, AMM TASK 34-22-01-400-801. c) If the test in the installation task for the RMI is satisfactory, then you corrected the fault.
(2) If the ADF flag shows on the right side of the RMI, then do these steps:
