 (1)  Do the Engine Ground Safety Precautions procedure.

If you will move the airplane with its power (taxi), refer to AMM 09-20-00/201 for the precautions for taxi operations.

If you will tow the airplane, lift the airplane on jacks, or plan to do maintenance on the airplane, install the landing gear ground lock assemblies for the main gear and the nose gear (Fig. 202, Fig. 203).

Refer to AMM 10-21-00/201 if there is a strong wind.

Ground the airplane (AMM 20-40-11/201).

If the area has ice or snow on the surface, put a mat or an equivalent material below and around the tires.


 NOTE: The tires will not freeze to the ground if you use a mat.

Turn the battery switch to the ON position.

Pressurize the B hydraulic system (AMM 29-15-00/201).

 (9) After 10 minutes, set the parking brake as follows:
 NOTE: Make sure you set and release the parking brake with the same
____ hydraulic system pressurized. If you release the parking brake with a different system pressurized, you will transfer hydraulic fluid from one system to the other.
 (a)
Push the brake pedals and hold them

 (b)
Pull the brake handle on the captain's control stand

 (c)
Release the brake pedals.

 (10) Depressurize the B hydraulic system.
 NOTE: The parking brake will hold for a maximum of 8 hours before
____
 the B hydraulic system must be pressurized again.

 NOTE: It is possible that a parking brake failure will occur if the
____
 pressure gage indicates less than 1200 psi.

 (11) Put chocks in front of and behind the two main gear wheels.

 CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE PARKING BRAKE STAY ENGAGED FOR MORE TIME THAN

 IS NECESSARY IF THE BRAKES ARE HOTTER THAN USUAL. IF THE
 BRAKES ARE VERY HOT, THEY CAN BOND TOGETHER WHEN THE PARKING
 BRAKE IS ENGAGED.

 (12) Push on the brake pedals to release the parking brakes.
 NOTE: A light on the control stand, adjacent to the parking brake

 lever, is on when the parking brake is engaged.

 NOTE: Make sure you set and release the parking brake with the same
