engines are exposed to an ingestion risk (FOD).
CAUTION If, for operational reasons, taxi with the inner engines only is required, check the
availability of the GREEN ELEC PUMP and never move slats/flaps during taxi
(nosewheel steering would be lost).
AT DEPARTURE
Applicable to:
The flight crew should use the following procedure to taxi out, if company policy and regulations
permit.
Note: Before starting the engines, check that the pressure ‐ is normal on the BRAKE & ACCU
PRESS indicator.
‐ If the flight crew expects to use the parking brake during taxi, the blue hydraulic system
should be pressurized. Therefore, the flight crew should switch the blue electric pump to
ON before they start Engines 1 and 4, and switch it to OFF after they start Engines 2 and
3.

PROBE/WINDOW HEAT...................................................................................................................ON
Switch on probe and window heating, because automatic control from the Engine 2 or 3 running
signal is not available.
Apply the normal “AFTER START” procedures, but:
• Keep the APU running to avoid additional electrical transients and to allow the galley operation.
APU BLEED should be switched off to avoid ingestion of engine exhaust gases in the air
conditioning system.
• After all engines have been started, perform the ECAM STATUS check, and then select and set
the engine anti-icing and/or wing anti-icing as required.

GENERAL
Applicable to: ,
Except in some operational conditions, (e.g. uphill slopes, slippery taxiways, or high gross weight) it
may be advisable to taxi on one engine.
The flight crew must exercise caution when taxiing on one engine, to avoid generating excessive jet
blast.
It is recommended to taxi with Engine 1 to pressurize the blue hydraulic system to ensure brake
accumulator pressure.
Note: If taxi is performed with Engine 2, check that the brake accumulator pressure on the
BRAKE & ACCU. PRESS indicator is normal.
AT DEPARTURE
Applicable to: ,
The flight crew should use the following procedure to taxi out, if company policy and regulations
permit.
