CROSSBLEED ENGINE START
Applicable to:
CAUTION Simultaneous use of engine bleed supply and external pneumatic power supply is
prohibited.
 Before start :
APU BLEED............................................................................................................................ OFF
The BLEED valve of the running engine reopens and the X BLEED valve closes.
ENG BLEED (running engine)....................................................................................................ON
ENG BLEED (other engines)....................................................................................................OFF
The bleed valves of engines to be started are closed to stop reverse flow.
X BLEED.............................................................................................................................. OPEN
Open the X-BLEED if the engine to be started is on the opposite side from the supplying engine.
The ABNORMAL BLEED CONFIG ECAM caution will be triggered, after the engine start.
 Cleared to start :
Apply the normal engine start procedure
Confirm area is clear of obstacles.
N1 of supplying engine may be increased up to 30 % if required in order to obtain starter air
supply pressure at about 25 PSI.
 After start :
X BLEED.............................................................................................................................. AUTO
ENG BLEED (all)........................................................................................................................ ON
PACKS............................................................................................................................check ON

ENGINE START WITH ELECTRICAL EXTERNAL POWER
Applicable to:
In order to ensure that the entire network remains electrically supplied, start at least two engines
before disconnecting the external electrical power.
Note: 1. When all four engines are started, the No Break Power Transfer (NBPT) function is
available.
2. When two engines on opposite sides are started (e.g. Engines 1 and 4, or Engines 2 and
3), a power transient occurs when the external electrical power is disconnected. This
power transient occurs because the NBPT function is not available.
3. When two engines on the same side are started (e.g. Engines 1 and 2, or Engines 3 and
4), two power transients occur : one when the external electrical power is disconnected,
and the second when an additional engine on the opposite side is started. These power
transients occur because the NBPT function is not available.
FADEC INTERMIX
Applicable to:
FADEC C3E introduces an increase of thrust in MAX CL or MAX CONT at high altitude and high
temperature.

Therefore, in case of intermix of FADEC C3D with FADEC C3E (or a subsequent standard), a
disagree may be observed, in some circumstances, between the engines.
