Condition: Engine was shutdown by the fuel control switch or
fire switch.
Condition: Start selector remains in START when engine is
running.

Condition: Engine starter operation is inhibited because the
starter duty cycle has expired.
FUEL CONTROL switch. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . CUTOFF
START selector. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . NORM
Engine starters are inhibited for a 30 minute cooldown
period.
Do not accomplish the following checklist:

Ground or in-flight start using electric starters may be
unsuccessful.
If on the ground:
FUEL CONTROL switch. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . CUTOFF
START selector. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . NORM
[Prevents engine from unexpectedly rotating if starter function is
regained.]
If in flight:
START selector. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . NORM
[Prevents engine from unexpectedly rotating if starter function is
regained.]
Increase airspeed until X-START is no longer displayed.
[Assures sufficient air flow for windmill start.]

Condition: Engine has severe damage, vibration, or has
separated.
# Autothrottle ARM switch. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .OFF
[Allows thrust lever to remain where manually positioned.]
# Thrust lever. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Close
[Assists in recognition of affected engine.]
# FUEL CONTROL switch. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . CUTOFF
# ENGINE FIRE switch. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .PULL
[Shuts off fuel and hydraulic fluid.]
If high airframe vibration occurs and continues after engine
shutdown:
Without delay, reduce airspeed and descend to a safe
altitude which results in an acceptable vibration level.
If high vibration returns and further airspeed reduction
and descent is not practical, increasing the airspeed may
reduce the vibration.
APU selector

Condition: Static discharge around the windshield, bright glow in
the engine inlets, smoke or dust on the flight deck, or
acrid odor indicates the airplane is in volcanic ash.
Exit volcanic ash as quickly as possible. Consider a 180
degree turn.
