Report: aircraft type, position, heading, altitude and
airspeed
Advise the cabin to prepare for ditching.
If at least one engine is running, plan to do the following:
Jettison fuel as needed to increase buoyancy.
[Improved ability to control touchdown.]
Ditch before fuel starvation.
Ditch with landing gear up.
Use flaps 30 and VREF30 on final approach.
Touchdown on the upwind side and parallel to waves and
swells.
If both engines are failed, plan to do the following:
Ditch with landing gear up.
Maintain flaps up maneuvering speed + 20 knots until
required to extend flaps for ditching.
If flaps are extended, use flaps 20 and VREF30 + 20 knots
on final approach.
[Flaps 20 required for controllability in flare when both engines are out.]
Touchdown on the upwind side and parallel to waves and
swells.

rate until the start of flare
