If the potting compound is not intact, replace the pin with a trunnion pin that has the potting compound intact. This will prevent seepage of grease out of the keyway and into the trunnion pin nut side of the wheel well wall.

Apply grease to the parts that follow:

Trunnion pin

 (b)  
Nut for the trunnion pin

 (c)  
Tang washer

 (d)  
Shank and threads of the lockbolt

 (e)

Move the trunnion pin into position.

Get access to panel 119BL.

Install the nut for the trunnion pin (Views A-A, B-B).

 (a)  
Install the tang washer.

Adjust the clearance for the trunnion (Detail B).

 (a)  
Do the steps that follow to adjust the clearance for the trunnion: 1) Push the nose landing gear all the way to the left until


 dimension 2 is 0 inches.
 2)  Install the trunnion nut for the left side. a) Tighten the trunnion nut to 500-600 pound-inches. b) Make sure dimension 3 is 0 inches. c) If dimension 3 is not 0 inches, loosen the trunnion
 nut. d) Tighten the trunnion nut again until dimension 3 is 0 inches.
 e) Loosen the trunnion nut to 0 pound-inches. 3) Put a 0.005 inch feeler gage at dimension 1. 4) Turn the left trunnion nut until it touches the feeler
 gage. a) Make sure there is 0 inches between the inboard face of the tang washer and the body structure. 5) Install the lockbolt through the left trunnion nut. a) If it is necessary, loosen the trunnion nut to the
 subsequent lock position. b) Install the lockbolt. c) Remove the feeler gage. d) Make sure the dimension 1 is not greater than 0.019
 inches. 6) Push the nose landing gear all the way to the right until dimension 1 or dimension 5 is 0 inches.
 7)  Install the trunnion nut for the right side. a) Tighten the trunnion nut to 500-600 pound-inches. b) Make sure dimension 4 is 0 inches. c) If dimension 4 is not 0 inches, loosen the trunnion
 nut. d) Tighten the trunnion nut again until dimension 4 is 0 inches. e) Loosen the trunnion nut to 0 pound-inches.

 8)  Put a 0.005 inch feeler gage at dimension 6.
 9)  Turn the right trunnion nut until it touches the feeler gage. a) Make sure there is 0 inches between the inboard face of
 the tang washer and the body structure. 10) Install the lockbolt through the right trunnion nut. a) If it is necessary, loosen the trunnion nut to the
 subsequent lock position. b) Install the lockbolt. c) Remove the feeler gage. d) Make sure dimension 6 is not greater than 0.019 inches.
 (b)  Make sure the sum of dimensions 1, 3, 4, and 6 is between 0.005 and 0.019 inches. It is not, do the adjustment again until the sum is between 0.005 and 0.019 inches.

 (7)  
If you install the trunnion pin on the left hand side, connect the nose wheel steering cables also (AMM 32-51-00/501).

 (a)  
Move the seal assembly, with the cables attached, into position (View C-C).

 (b)  
Connect the cables to the pulley brackets on the lower left hand side of panel 119BL.

 (c)  
Remove the rig pins NS-1, NS-2, and NS-4.

 (d)  
Install the seal ring, the castellated nut and the lock.


 NOTE: Tighten the castellated nut to 100-150 pound-inches
____ (View B-B). Loosen to install the lock. The assembly should move freely for approximately 100 degrees.
 F.  Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

 (1)  
Remove the axle jack.

 (2)  
Lower the airplane and remove the jacks (AMM 07-11-02/201).

 (3)  
Remove the shock strut lock.

 (4)  S 614-021Do the servicing on the shock strut (AMM 12-15-02/301).
 (5)  S 644-022Lubricate the trunnion pin at the grease fittings.
 (6)  S 094-023Remove the lock pin from the towing lever. Make sure the lever moves back to the NORMAL position by itself.
