MAIN GEAR MANUAL EXTENSION LINKAGE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure removes and installs either the left or right main gear manual extension linkage.
2. Equipment and Material
A. Corrosion Preventive Compound - MIL-C-16173 Grade 2 or MIL-C-11796, Class 3 (Ref 20-30-21)
B. Rod - 3/8 inch diameter X 3-1/4 inches long (material optional)
3. Remove Main Gear Manual Extension Linkage (Fig. 401)
A. Remove cargo compartment ceiling panels at approximately body station 420 and disconnect cable MILGEA for manual extension linkage being removed.
B. Detach cable MLGEA from quadrant assembly (4).
C. Disconnect uplock release rod (6) at quadrant assembly (4). If installed, disconnect uplock release spring (7) at quadrant assembly (4).
D. Disconnect return spring (5) at quadrant assembly (4).
E. Remove nut (9), washer (8) and remove bolt (3) and spacer (2) securing quadrant assembly (4) to quadrant support (1). Retain spacer (2).
F. Disconnect uplock release rod (6) at camshaft arm (13) and quadrant assembly (4).
G. Remove nut (19), shim (18A), and washer (18) from camshaft (10) and remove camshaft.
H. Retain spacer (16), cam (15), sleeves (12 and 14), bearings (11 and 17), and camshaft arm (13).
4. Install Main Gear Manual Extension Linkage (Fig. 401)
A. Lubricate mating splines of camshaft (10), cam (15), and camshaft arm (13) with corrosion preventive compound.
B. Install camshaft aft bearing (11) in aft structure.

C. Insert camshaft (10) through aft structure and slip sleeve (12) over camshaft.
D. Align splines of camshaft arm (13) and camshaft (12) and start camshaft arm on splines.
E. Slip sleeve (14) over camshaft (10).
F. Align splines of cam (15) and camshaft (10) and start cam on splines.
G. Install spacer (16) on camshaft (10).
H. Install camshaft forward bearing (17) in structure.
I. Insert camshaft (10) through forward bearing (17) and install shim (18A).
J. Make sure all parts are tightly stacked-up.
K. Keep a gap between the end of the bearing (17) and shim (18A) to 0.005-0.015 inch (see Fig. 401, View A-A) before installing washer (18).
NOTE: Use micrometer to measure the gap.
L. Install washer (18) and tighten nut (19).
M. Install spacer (2) in quadrant assembly (4).
NOTE: When installing spacer (2), temporarily insert a 3/8-inch diameter rod approximately 3-1/4 inches long through quadrant assembly to keep spacer in alignment.
N. Place quadrant assembly (4) in quadrant support (1) and insert bolt (3) through quadrant support and quadrant assembly by pushing out temporary rod installed per step M.
O. Install washer (8) and nut (9) on bolt (3).
P. Install cable MLGEA on quadrant assembly (4).
Q. Connect uplock release rod (6) to quadrant assembly (4).
R. Connect uplock release rod (6) to camshaft arm (13) but do not tighten nut until performing adjustment on manual extension system.
S. Connect return spring (5) to quadrant assembly (4). If installed connect uplock release spring
(7) to quadrant assembly (4).
T. Connect cable MLGEA at approximately body station 420.
U. Adjust manual extension system per 32-34-0.
V. Test manual extension system per 32-34-0.
W. Install cargo compartment ceiling panels.

MAIN GEAR MANUAL EXTENSION SYSTEM CABLES - REMOVAL /INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure removes and installs either the left or right main gear manual extension system cables.
2. Equipment and Material
A. Rigging Pin, 0.311 +0.000/-0.002 inch diameter x 7.5 inch long, Type MS20392-46 or equivalent
B. Grease - MIL-G-25760 (Ref 20-30-21)
C. Cable Tensiometer
3. Remove Main Gear Manual Extension System Cables (Fig. 401)
