1_  Disconnect the n-th smoke detector of channel 1.
R  NOTE : "n" gives the position of the smoke detector in the____
R  loop. At the start of this procedure n refers to the
R  second lavatory smoke detector, n=2. If there are three
R  lavatories in the cabin, on the location A, D and E:
R  The second lavatory smoke detector 4WQ (n=2) is
R  disconnected to examine the previous detector 1WQ (n-1)
R  in the loop before 1WQ.
R  2_  Close the SDCU circuit breakers 11WQ and 12WQ and pause 40 to
R  60 seconds.
3_ Measure the voltage (DC mode) between pin A and pin B of the
 aircraft-side connector.
a_  If the highest voltage peak shown on the voltmeter is less
R  than 22 VDC, the smoke detector on the location (n-1)
R  apparently is defective. Replace the smoke detector.
b_  If the highest voltage peak shown on the voltmeter is equal
R  to 24+/-2VDC (voltage level pulses between 0VDC and 24VDC),
R  the smoke detector on the location (n-1) is serviceable.
4_ Open the SDCU circuit breakers 11WQ and 12WQ.

R  5 Connect the n-th smoke detector to the loop again and_
R  disconnect smoke detector on location (n+1).
R  6 Do the steps (l) 1 to step (l) 5 for each smoke detector that_
R  follows to examine each smoke detector.
R  NOTE : An incorrect voltage measured at the location number n____
R  means that the smoke detector on the location (n-1) is
R  defective.
R  (m) Close the SDCU circuit breakers 11WQ and 12WQ again and pause for
R  approximately 80 seconds (SDCU power-up is 20 sec. and SD
R  initialization is 60 sec.).
R  (n) Do a check of the "ON GROUND FAULTS" indication.
R  (5) If the fault continues:
R  - Do a check and repair if necessary the wiring between the SDCU and
R  all the connected lavatory and cargo compartment smoke detectors
(Ref. ASM 26-17/01), (Ref. ASM 26-17/02) and (Ref. ASM 26-17/03).
R  (6) If the fault continues:
R  - Do a check and repair the wiring of the related wiring which is
R  shown in the WIRING REPORT (Ref. ASM 26-17/01), (Ref. ASM 26-17/02)
 and (Ref. ASM 26-17/03).
 E. Do the test given in the Para. 3.
 5. Close-up________
 A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
