4. Procedure
_________ (Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 74-11-10-991-300) Subtask 74-11-10-420-052
A. Install the Upper and Lower Ignition Exciters:
(1) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No. CP2101) on the threads and friction surface of the studs (10).
(2) Install the upper ignition exciter (50) on the upper studs (10) and the lower ignition exciter (110) on the lower studs (10).
(3) Place the end of the ground strap (80) on the nearest stud (10). The ground strap (80) is installed between the washer (30) and the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(4) Install the washers (30) and nuts (20) as follows:
(a) Put the washers (30) on the studs (10). Make sure the ground strap (80) is between the washers (30) and the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(b) Install the nuts (20). Do not let the stud (10) turn in the resilient mount (150). Hold the stud (10) with an open-end wrench. The wrench flats (160) are locate between the resilient mount (150) and the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(c) TORQUE the nuts (20) to between 55 and 70 lbf.in (0.62 and 0.79 m.daN). Hold the stud (10) and turn the nut (20).
Subtask 74-11-10-420-054
B. Connection of the Ignition Leads and Power Supply Cables:
(1) Remove the blanking caps from the disconnected electrical connectors, power supply cables and ignition leads.
(2) Connect the right-side ignition lead (140) to the electrical input connector (40) on the aft side of the upper ignition exciter (50).
(3) Connect the left-side ignition lead (130) to the electrical input connector (120) on the aft side of the lower ignition exciter (110).
(4) TORQUE the connector nuts of the ignition exciter (140), (130) to between 140 and 160 lbf.in (1.58 and 1.80 m.daN).
