General
The pneumatic system pressurizes the hydraulic system
reservoirs. This pressurizes the supply fluid flow from the
reservoirs to the pumps and pressurizes the return fluid in the
hydraulic system.
Functional Description
Air from the pneumatic system goes through restrictors and into
the reservoir pressurization module. Vents on the pneumatic
ducts help remove contaminates and moisture from the air.
Inside the module, the air goes through check valves and an air
filter. You can clean the air filter.
Some of the air then vents out of the system but most of the air
goes through check valves, restrictors, reservoir
depressurization valves, and then goes to the air pressure
indicators and reservoirs.
The restrictors prevent a loss of pneumatic duct pressure if
there is a failure downstream in the system. An additional vent
also helps remove contaminants and moisture from the
pressurization system.
The reservoir depressurization valves permit air
depressurization of either related reservoir.
The air pressure indicators show air pressure in each reservoir.
The approximate operating range will vary between 12-65 psi
depending on pneumatic source available and aircraft
operation.
To protect the reservoirs, a pressure relief valve opens if the air
or fluid pressure in the reservoir is more than 60-65 psi.
Excess pressure from the pressure relief valves vent into the
APU fuel line shroud drain mast.

Depressurization
You can depressurize each main hydraulic system reservoir
independently.
To remove pneumatic pressure from a reservoir, the engine or
APU pneumatic system must not have pressure.

When you move the knurled ring on the reservoir
depressurization valve to the vent position, air holes let air
pressure vent. This also prevents air pressure from the other
reservoir from venting. When the air flow stops, the reservoir is
at ambient pressure.
You lock the knurled ring on the reservoir depressurization
valve in the vent position with the reservoir depressurization
valve vent lock set to hold it open for maintenance.
When you move the knurled ring on the reservoir
depressurization valves to the normal position, you open
pressure lines to the system A and system B reservoirs.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE MORE THAN 70 PSIG PRESSURE. IF
YOU USE TOO MUCH PRESSURE, DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
Pressurization
You can pressurize both main hydraulic system reservoirs at
the same time. Make sure the reservoir depressurization valves
are closed.
