spoiler actuator quadrants send these inputs to the spoiler
actuators.
Location
There are eight spoiler actuator quadrants. One quadrant
attaches to the wing rear spar below each flight spoiler. To get
access to these quadrants, extend the TE flaps.
Physical Description
Each spoiler actuator quadrant moves an actuator link. The
actuator link turns the input arm that connects to the spoiler
actuator.
There is a breakout mechanism between the crank that attaches
to the actuator link and the spoiler actuator quadrant. If the
spoiler actuator does not move freely, the roller moves out of
the cam detent and the spring extends. This permits continuous
operation of the other flight spoilers.
Training Information Point
You use the adjustment bolt on the input arm to rig the flight
spoiler actuator. The flight spoiler adjustment is done with the
control wheel turned 30 degrees. This table shows the flight
spoiler position when the control wheel position is 30 degrees
left or right.

Purpose
The flight spoiler actuators use hydraulic power to move the
flight spoilers.
Location
The flight spoiler actuators attach to the rear spar of the wing
below each flight spoiler. To get access, extend the TE flaps.
Physical Description
The flight spoiler actuator has these components:
* Input crank
* Control valve
* Filter
* Extension check and relief valve
* Piston.
Functional Description
The input crank receives inputs from the spoiler actuator
quadrant through the input arm. The input crank moves the
control valve.
During extension, the control valve sends hydraulic pressure to
the extend side of the piston and to the extension check and
relief valve. The extension check and relief valve opens to
permit fluid on the retract side of the piston to go to return. This
lets the piston extend.
During retraction, the control valve moves in the opposite
direction. This causes hydraulic pressure to go through the
extension check and relief valve to the retract side of the piston.
The hydraulic pressure on the extend side of the piston goes to
return. This lets the piston retract.
The extension check and relief valve also releases high
pressure fluid caused by thermal expansion.
The input crank on each flight spoiler actuator is downrigged.
When the control wheel turns, the input crank moves the control
valve to start the movement of the piston. When the control
wheel movement is less than required to move the spoiler up,
the control valve continuously sends pressure to the retract side
of the piston.
Flight spoiler actuators 2, 4, 9, and 11 receive hydraulic power
from system A.
Flight spoiler actuators 3, 5, 8, and 10 receive hydraulic power
from system B.

control hydraulic modular package in the main landing gear
