What is EBAA
0VERVIEW
Founded in 1977, the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) is the leading association for Business Aviation in Europe. Its roots lay in the decision taken by the management of the Philips Group in 1975, to create an organisation that would be capable of representing European Busi¬ness Aviation at all European institutions. Accordingly, the Philips Group Chairman, Dr Frederick ´Frits' Jacques Philips, set up the International Business Aviation Association (Europe) in March 1977, together with 11 other founder members and based the organisation in the Netherlands.
In 1984, the Board recognised that Brus¬sels was a more appropriate location for its headquarters and so it moved there under the new title, European Business Aviation
Association (EBAA). Since its early days, back in 1977, the EBAA has grown into the prime European Business Aviation organisa¬tion, and today, it represents more than 350 Business Aviation companies and a fleet of over 1,000 aircraft. Members come from a wide spectrum of the industry, including operators, aircraft and avionics manufacturers, component suppliers, trade associations, aviation consultants and main¬tenance and repair organisations.
MISSI0N
EBAA represents both the fixed-wing and
helicopter communities and its mission is
to promote excellence and professionalism amongst its members to enable them to deliver best in class safety and operational efficiency, whilst representing their interests at all levels in Europe. EBAA endeavours to ensure that the European Business Aviation sector is recognised as a vital part of the local, national and international aviation infrastructure and an important element of Europe's economy at both the local and regional level.
ACTIVITIES
EBAA is involved in all aspects of aviation which affect its membership directly or indirectly. Although this covers a very wide spectrum, the main areas of focus are currently based around safety, secu¬rity, the environment, access to airports and the impact of the Single European Sky programme on its members.
