CMCS -MAINTENANCE ACCESS TERMINAL
Purpose
The maintenance access terminal (MAT) gives access to the central maintenance computing system (CMCS) and the airplane condition monitoring system (ACMS).
General Description
The MAT has these components:
*
MAT chassis
*
MAT display
*
MAT cursor control device
*
MAT floppy disk drive
*
MAT hard disk drive
*
MAT flash memory module.
These components are located behind an access door at the bottom of the MAT chassis:
*
MAT floppy disk drive
*
MAT hard disk drive
*
MAT flash memory module.
The MAT is 15.00 inches wide, 11.25 inches tall, and 10.30 inches deep.
The MAT weighs approximately 34.1 lbs.
MAT Chassis
The MAT chassis contains all the MAT components and gives an interface between the components.
The MAT chassis has a 133MHz Pentium(tm) processor that runs the software to control the MAT user interface. This software is called the maintenance terminal function (MTF). The MAT flash memory module keeps the MTF.
An electrical connector in the back supplies power to the MAT components. A fiber optics connector in the back supplies an interface to the avionics local area network.
The MAT chassis has the brightness control for the MAT display.
A light sensor in the MAT chassis gives automatic brightness control for the MAT display.
Four screws on the MAT chassis attach the MAT to the p18 second observers panel.
MAT Display
The MAT display is a 1024 pixel by 768 pixel liquid crystal display (LCD). It provides the graphical user interface for the maintenance operators to perform onboard maintenance tasks.

CMCS -MAINTENANCE ACCESS TERMINAL
The MAT display has a heater. The heater comes on below -10 degrees Celsius (C). It may take up to 2.5 minutes for the MAT display to be operational after airplane power up when the temperature is below -10 C.
MAT Cursor Control Device
The MAT cursor control device (CCD) is the tool the operator uses to move the cursor on the MAT display.
The CCD has a track ball. Move the track ball with your finger or the palm of your hand to move the cursor on the MAT.
The CCD has three selection switches. Only the left selection switch makes a selection on the MAT. Move the track ball to put the cursor over the desired selection and use the left selection switch to make the selection.
MAT Floppy Disk Drive
The MAT disk drive enables the user to load software and data into the airplane systems and download data from the airplane systems.
The MAT disk drive uses a standard 3.5 inch double sided, high density, magnetic floppy diskette.
The diskettes have a capacity of 1.44 Mbytes.

A light emitting diode (LED) adjacent to the disk drive comes on when the disk drive operates.
Push the button adjacent to the disk drive to eject the floppy disk from the disk drive.
MAT Hard Disk Drive
The MAT hard disk drive enables the user to store LRU software and load software into the airplane systems.
The size of the hard disk drive is 340 Mbytes.
An LED adjacent to the hard disk drive comes on when the hard disk drive operates.
The hard disk drive is a line replaceable module (LRM). Remove the hard disk drive for shop loading or repair. There is a cover on the hard disk drive. A tamper resistant screw holds the cover in position.
Select HARD DRIVE SOFTWARE PART NUMBER MANAGEMENT from the CMCS extended maintenance menu to do these tasks:
*
Add software part numbers to the hard drive
*
Remove software part numbers from the hard drive
*
Show software part numbers on the hard drive
*
Check part numbers on the hard drive.

MAT Flash Memory Module
The MAT flash memory module keeps the MTF.
To load the MTF into the flash memory module, select "SELF LOAD" on the MAT main menu display. It can also be shop loaded. 中国航空网 www.aero.cn 航空翻译 www.aviation.cn 本文链接地址:777 AMM 飞机维护手册 中央维护 Central Maintenance(6)
