If it is necessary, mask the area adjacent to the inspection area with Masking Tape to prevent the entry of penetrant.

 (c)
Apply one of these penetrants with a brush, cloth, or cotton swab. 1) Penetrant (Normal) (P05-208), (P05-234) 2) Penetrant (High) (P05-032), (P05-236) 3) Penetrant (Ultra-High) (P05-235) 4) Use a penetrant with the sensitivity (normal, high or ultra

high) given in the source procedure.

 (d)
Drain the penetrant for 10 to 60 minutes maximum.

 (e)
Use a cloth or paper towel to remove the penetrant from the surface. 1) If it is necessary, make the cloth or towel moist with one

 of these materials.
 a) Solvent (P11-005)
 b) Alcohol (P11-014)
 c) Acetone (P11-032)
 d) Solvent (P11-038)
 e) Solvent (P11-039)

 (f)
Do a check with ultraviolet light to make sure that no penetrant stays on the surface.

 (g)
Very lightly apply one of these developers on the part. 1) Developer (P05-034) 2) Developer (P05-237)

 (h)
Permit a minimum of 10 minutes for development.

Examine the part with ultraviolet light.

 (j)
If a surface has a moderately fluorescent background, or if you are not sure of a surface, do the procedure that follows: 1) Make a soft brush moist with one of these materials.

 a) Solvent (P11-005) b) Alcohol (P11-014) c) Acetone (P11-032) d) Solvent (P11-038) e) Solvent (P11-039)
 2)  Lightly apply the material to the inspection surface.
 a) The material must not run over or flood a surface. 3) After the material evaporates, apply the developer. 4) Examine the surface with ultraviolet light.
 a)  If you see an indication immediately, evaluate it immediately. b) If you do not see an indication, wait 5 minutes minimum for the development, then examine it. c) Use this evaluation procedure only one time for an indication.
 (k)  Use a cloth or paper towel to remove the developer from the surface. 1) If it is necessary, make the cloth or towel moist with one
 of these materials. a) Solvent (P11-005) b) Alcohol (P11-014) c) Acetone (P11-032) d) Solvent (P11-038) e) Solvent (P11-039)
