CAUTION: DO NOT VIBROPEEN, ETCH, OR PUT A MECHANICAL MARK ON A
_______ MATING SURFACE OF A PART UNLESS SPECIFIED DIFFERENTLY IN THE APPLICABLE MANUAL SECTION. DAMAGE TO THE PARTS COULD OCCUR.
(h) It you must identify the offset holes in mating parts, use these steps: 1) You can vibropeen an X mark on a surface which does not
touch. This surface must be adjacent to the offset hole. 2) If a different procedure is given for that specified area, use that procedure.

S 932-003-N00
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY MARKS WITH PROCEDURES WHICH CAN KEEP A
_______ LAYER OR CARBON, ZINC, COPPER, LEAD, OR OTHER MATERIALS ON THE SURFACE. BECAUSE OF THIS, ALSO DO NOT USE LEAD OR METALLIC PENCILS. THESE LAYERS CAN CAUSE THE FATIQUE STRENGTH OF THE MATERIAL TO BE DECREASED AT HIGH TEMPERATURES. IF ONE OF THESE PROCEDURES WAS USED, REMOVE THE MARK WITH THE APPROVED PROCEDURE GIVEN FOR THAT TYPE OF MARK AND SURFACE MATERIAL.
(2) When you apply marks with a marking pencil, do not put the mark on the surfaces which follow:
(a)
The surfaces of the carbon seal plate
(b)
The mating surfaces of machined parts.
D. Procedures to Apply Marks
S 932-004-N00
CAUTION: DO NOT ELECTROLYTICALLY ETCH A SURFACE WHICH IS ANODIZED.
_______
DAMAGE TO THE PARTS COULD OCCUR.
(1) The steps that follow give instructions on the different types of marks which you can apply to the surface of a part.
(a) Electrolytic etch 1) The electrolysis procedure uses a stencil to make the
letters and numbers. 2) The marks made with this procedure are permanent. 3) If it is necessary, you can also use this procedure to make
temporary marks.
4) You can etch a surface with electrolysis on all surfaces of the part which do not touch and move against a different surface.
(b) Marks made with ink. 1) Letters and numbers are made when you apply ink to the surface of the part. 2) Inks used to make a mark on the surface can lightly etch the surface. 3) Make sure the ink does not cause damage to the surface of the part.
4) You can apply an ink mark to all surfaces of the part which do not touch and move against a different surface.
