5.  Test Command Bars and Annunciation
NOTES: 1.  Unless otherwise stated, the following equipment shall be utilized for tests pertaining to the "Capt's Side": FLT DIR Mode Selector and left course knob, Capt's ADI, Capt's HSI, Capt's F/D ANN, VG NO. 1, VHF NAV-1, Radio Altimeter-1, and Air Data Computer-1.
2.  
Unless otherwise stated, the following equipment shall be utilized for tests pertaining to the "F/O's Side": FLT DIR Mode Selector and right course knob, F/O's ADI, F/O's HSI, F/O's F/D ANN, VHF NAV-2, Air Data Computer-1, Radio Altimeter-1, and VG NO. 2.

3.  
The following tests may be performed on the captain's and F/O's side separately or simultaneously.

4.  
The CMPTR flags shall be out of view unless otherwise stated.

5.  
The F/D APD HDG SEL annunciator will be illuminated green during the HDG mode test and throughout the following tests except as specified.


A.  OFF Mode Tests (Capt and F/O's Sides)
(1)  
Set both MODE SEL switches to off. Check that ADI V-bars are out of view.

(2)  
With BRT-DIM-TEST switch on center instrument panel set to BRT, press face of F/D APD. Check that A/P and F/D VOR/LOC and GLIDE SLOPE annunciators light amber.

(3)  
Press face of A/P APD. Check that all F/D ALT HOLD, HDG SEL, VOR/LOC, GS, and GA annunciators and A/P NAV, ALT HOLD, HDG SEL, VOR/LOC and GS annunciators light green.

(4)  
Remove the flight director and autopilot photocells and repeat steps (2) and (3) with BRT-DIM-TEST switch at DIM. Lights should be dim but readable.

(5)  
Replace photocells and leave BRT-DIM-TEST switch at DIM.

(6)  
Press face of F/D and A/P APD and at the same time, shade autopilot and flight director photocells. Check that same indications as steps (2) and (3) occur and, shading photocells causes brightness of lights to vary.

(7)  
Switch BRT-DIM-TEST switch to TEST. Check that all APD annunciators turn off.

(8)  
Position BRT-DIM-TEST switch to BRT.


B.  HDG Mode Tests
(1) 
 Captain's Side:

(a)  
Set PITCH CMD knob on mode selector to 0 and ALT HOLD switch to OFF.

(b)  
For captain's instruments, set mode selector in HDG position. Set heading marker on HSI to airplane heading. Tilt VG-1 to align V-bars on ADI with miniature airplane symbol. Allow 30 seconds for V-bars to stabilize. Check that tilt table reads 0 ±3 degrees in both pitch and roll.

(c)  
Set heading marker to angle 10 degrees greater than airplane heading. Check that V-bars rotate to right and return to zero command with 15 ±5 degrees right roll of VG-1.

(d)  
Set heading marker to angle 90 degrees greater than airplane heading. Check that V-bars return to zero command with 28. ±5 degrees right roll of VG-1.
