(e)
Repeat steps (b) thru (d) for heading approximately 60° from airplane heading in an increasing direction. Same results as steps (b) thru (d) shall be obtained except the synch annunciator shall deflect to the right.
(f)
Repeat steps (b) thru (e) using First Officer's compass controller, F/O's HSI and CAPT's RDDMI. Corresponding results as steps (b) thru (e) shall be obtained.
(3)
Set Heading
(a)
Set DG-SLAVED switch on the F/O's compass controller to DG and hold the SET HDG knob in the first right detent position. The compass card on the F/O's HSI shall rotate in a counterclockwise direction at 40° to 80° per minute.
(b)
Hold the SET HDG knob in the second right detent position. The compass card on the F/O's HSI shall rotate in counterclockwise direction at 800° to 1200° per minute.
(c)
Hold the SET HDG knob in the first left detent position. The compass card on F/O's HSI shall rotate in clockwise direction at 40° to 80° per minute.
(d)
Hold the SET HDG knob in the second left detent position. The compass card on F/O's HSI shall rotate in clockwise direction at 800° to 1200° per minute.
(e)
Set the DG-SLAVED switch to SLAVED and hold the SET HDG knob in first right detent position. The compass card on the F/O's HSI shall rotate in a counterclockwise direction at 40° to 80° per minute.
(f)
Repeat steps (a) thru (e) using the Capt's SET HDG knob. Corresponding results as steps (a) thru (e) shall be observed on the Capt's HSI.
(4)
Slaved Heading Operation
(a)
Using the SET HDG knob on the Capt's compass controller, set the compass card on the Capt's HSI 4° away from the airplane heading in a decreasing direction. The synch annunciator shall deflect to the left. The compass card shall return to airplane heading within 5 minutes.
(b)
Using the SET HDG knob on the Capt's compass controller set the compass card on the Capt's HSI 4° away from airplane heading in an increasing direction. The synch annunciator shall deflect to the right. The compass card shall return to airplane heading within 5 minutes.
(c)
Using the SET HDG knob, set the compass card on the Capt's HSI to a heading approximately 45° greater than airplane heading. Within 5 to 10 minutes the compass card shall slave 10° toward airplane heading.
(d)
Using the SET HDG knob, set the compass card to a heading of approximately 45° less than airplane heading. Within 5 to 10 minutes the compass card shall slave 10° toward airplane heading.
(e)
Repeat steps (a) thru (d) using the F/O's HSI, and the SET HDG knob on the F/O's compass controller. Corresponding results in steps (a) thru (d) shall be obtained.
(5)
DG Mode
(a) Verify that power has been applied to both compass systems for at least 5 minutes. Using the SET HDG knob on the compass controllers, set the compass card on the HSI approximately 10° away from airplane heading. Set the DG-SLAVED switches to DG. After 10 minutes, the compass card on both RDDMIs shall not indicate more than 1° change (Seattle latitude).
(6)
Repeater Operation
(a)
Insure that the DG-SLAVED switch on both compass controllers is set to DG and both compass systems are synchronized to airplane heading. The synch annunciators shall indicate null.
(b)
By means of SET HDG knob on the Captain's compass controller, rotate the Capt's HSI compass card through 360°, stopping every 30°. The compass card on the F/O's RDDMI shall agree with the Capt's HSI within + 2° at each 30° reading.
(c)
By means of SET HDG knob on the F/O's compass controller, rotate the F/O's HSI compass card through 360° stopping every 30°. The compass card on the Capt's RDDMI shall agree with the F/O's HSI within + 2° at each 30° reading.
(7)
Remote Heading/Course Select
(a)
Rotate the HEADING knob on the AFCS control panel clockwise. The heading marker on the Capt's and F/O's HSI shall rotate clockwise. The digital HEADING readout on the AFCS control panel shall display increasing heading.
(b)
Rotate the HEADING knob on the AFCS control panel counterclockwise. The heading marker on the Capt's and F/O's HSI shall rotate counterclockwise. The digital HEADING readout on the AFCS control panel shall display decreasing heading.
(c)
Using the HEADING knob, rotate the heading marker on the HSIs 360°, stopping the knob for readings on each 45° increment on the digital readout. The heading markers on both HSIs shall agree with the digital readout within + 1 degree.
