DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General This topic defines the minimum standard required to achieve satisfactory electrical joints and also definies the testing of the crimping tools used in their manufacture.

Definition The crimping ensures the electrical and mechanical connection of the wire to an item of equipment or to a connecting system by means of the end fitting.
A. Design Requirements
-
the crimping must compress the strands of the wire without leading to breakage or initiating rupture.
-
the connection must not reduce the original electrical characteristics of the wire.
