A. Inspection

Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(2)
Make sure that the aircraft is stable (Ref. TASK 05-57-00-200-001).
(3)
Make sure that the engine cowls are closed.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Do an EIS start procedure (Ref. TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(2)
On the N/W-steering deactivation electrical-box 5GC:
(a)
Set the ground-towing control lever to the towing position. (Ref. Fig. 206/TASK 09-10-00-991-005)
(b)
Install the PIN (D23156000).

(3)
On the upper ECAM DU, on the MEMO page:
-the N WHEEL STEERG DISC indication comes into view.

R C. Installation of the Towbar
R CAUTION : MAKE SURE THAT THE TOW BAR HAS :_______
R - A DAMPING SYSTEM
R - A CALIBRATED SHEAR PIN
R - TWO CALIBRATED TURN SHEAR PINS. THIS IS TO PREVENT HIGH LOADS
R WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR.
R NOTE : This procedure is for towing of the aircraft in maintenance____
R configuration only and is not for operational towing.
R Do not use a towbar tractor to tow the aircraft to a dispatch area
R near the runway threshold.
R (1) Install the towbar on the tow fitting.

R (2) Connect the towbar to the tractor.

(1) On the panel 25VU:
R - set the EXT LT/NAV & LOGO switch to ON,

R - set the EXT LT/BEACON switch to ON,
R - set the INT LT/DOME switch to BRT.

R R (2) VHF system - If communication is necessary between the aircraft and the control tower, on the RMP (Radio Management Panel) 11VU, push the VHF1 pushbutton switch. On the panel 60VU, connect a boomset.
R R (3) On the panel 108VU, connect a boomset to the FLT INT socket. This lets you speak to the cockpit.

F. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
CAUTION : PUT THE PARKING BRK CONTROL SWITCH IN THE OFF POSITION BEFORE_______ YOU TOW OR PUSH BACK THE AIRCRAFT. THIS IS TO PREVENT HIGH LOADS WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE NOSE LANDING GEAR.
(1) On the panel 400VU: - make sure that the pressure indication on the Yellow brake-pressure triple-indicator is correct: 3000 psi (206.8427 bar). The pointer must be in the green range. - if necessary, pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
R (2) On the panel 110VU, set the PARKING BRK control-switch to OFF.
(3) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system during the towing operation (Ref. TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
NOTE : If you energized the aircraft electrical circuits with the____ engine, do not pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system.

WARNING : MAKE SURE THAT WHEN THE AIRCRAFT MOVES WITH ITS POWER ON THE_______ GROUND - NO PERSONS GO WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CAN CAUSE THEM INJURY OR CAN KILL THEM - NO OBJECTS STAY WHERE THE ENGINES CAN BLOW THEM AWAY OR CAN PULL THEM INTO THE ENGINES BY SUCTION.
