FCS format Xs indicate the respective FCS function
has been shutdown. The FCS RESET button
does not fix a detected failure, but merely allows
the components to be restored and failure indications
to be removed if the failure no longer exists.
Avoid multiple FCS reset attempts of a recurring
FCS failure to preclude the failure from occurring
during a critical phase of flight (e.g., during final
approach to landing).
No single electrical failure (e.g., single channel)
affects flying qualities. The FCS has multiple layers
of redundancy and is designed to fail to the least
critical configuration. No electrical or mechanical
backup mode is provided for normal CAS functions.
Multiple FCS failures are required before flying
qualities are degraded.
Due to the variety of possible failure combinations,
exact guidance may not be provided for every
situation. Specific procedures have been established
for the following FCS/FCES related cautions/
failures: AOA, ATC FAIL; P, R, Y CAS; FC AIR
DAT, FCS/FCES, aileron off, rudder off, stab off,
four-channel AOA failure, complete FCS CH failure,
FLAPS OFF, FLAP SCHED, HYD 5000, and
NWS.
*1. Cease maneuvering.
2. FCS format - SELECT and identify failure
3. FCS RESET button - PUSH
If no reset and no more than single X in any
row -
4. Land as soon as practical.
If no reset and two or more Xs in any row -
4. The following general restrictions apply:
· AOA below 10° in UA, on-speed in PA.
· 2g maximum
· Minimum sideslip
· Half lateral stick maximum
5. Refer to the appropriate failure procedure.
If no procedure applies -
6. Make a controllability check at safe altitude
(if required).
7. Fly a straight-in approach (if practical).
8. Land as soon as practical.

²Flight Controls,

· FCCs have detected an excessive split between
the left and right AOA probes immediately after
takeoff.
The AOA caution can only be activated within 12
seconds after WoffW. After 12 seconds, the caution
is removed, whether the failure remains or not. If
the failure remains, the AOA caution is replaced by
the FCS caution and Xs in all four AOA channels.
With the AOA caution set, the FCCs utilize a fixed
gain (on-speed AOA) for pitch axis control, so expected
flying qualities during the first 12 seconds
should be fairly nominal. With the caution set,
movement of the FLAP switch does not change flap
scheduling (e.g., flaps stay down). The AOA value
displayed in the HUD is the average of the two
split AOA probes.
With an AOA caution set, HUD displayed AOA
may be grossly in error and should not be utilized
to control aircraft flyaway.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKEOFF
1. Throttles - MIL (MAX if required)
2. Fly straight ahead.
3. Maintain 10 to 12° pitch attitude with the waterline
symbol.
When safely airborne -
4. FCS format - SELECT
If FCS caution set and AOA Xd in all four
channels -
5. Refer to the FCS caution procedures for an
AOA failure.
If no cautions or Xs present -
5. Resume the flight (split was transitory) but
monitor AOA for proper indications.
ATC FAIL
FCES
Caution Light
· Auto throttle control (ATC) failed.
· GAIN ORIDE selected with ATC approach mode
engaged.
· Bank angle >70° in HALF or FULL flaps.
ATC capability not available. Supersonic engine
thrust limiting (SETLIM) and ABLIM may be disabled.
1. Control throttles manually.
2. Avoid flight above 700 KCAS or 1.8 Mach.
If GAIN ORIDE selected with ATC approach
mode engaged -

· FCS degraded in its ability to measure rates and
acceleration in either Pitch (P), Roll (R), or Yaw
(Y) axis, as indicated.
Potential for lateral pilot induced oscillations (PIO)
exists when landing with a Y CAS failure.
Aircraft 165660 and up (AHRS equipped
aircraft) - Refer to AHRS 4 Channel Failure.
Aircraft 165533 thru 165544 -

6. Make smooth longitudinal inputs only.
R CAS
6. Limit pedal inputs to half throw.
Y CAS
6. Make smooth lateral inputs only.
