L ATS
R ATS
· Designated air turbine starter rpm too high (e.g.,
both sources of ATS overspeed cutout protection
have failed).
· ECS valve failures (ECS air isolation valve and
ATSCV) are routing engine bleed air to rotate
the corresponding ATS.
If the aft avionics cooling fan has been disabled, the
OFF/RAM position of the ECS MODE switch will
not energize the aft avionics cooling fan. In this
case, only limited avionics cooling is available using
ram air. With the AV COOL switch set to EMERG,
only the following essential avionics receive adequate
cooling: FCC A, one AHRS, and the right
transformer rectifier. All other avionics systems are
susceptible to failure or shutdown due to heat. Ambient
temperature significantly influences the rate
at which avionics systems fail.
Regardless of the engine start air source utilized,
the corresponding GEN switch should be ON, as
the generator provides primary overspeed cutout
protection for the ATS.
GROUND
After eng start (other than momentary) ±
1. ENG CRANK switch - OFF
2. Throttle affected eng - OFF
3. APU switch - OFF
4. BLEED AIR knob - OFF
INFLIGHT
1. ENG CRANK switch - VERIFY OFF
If caution remains -
2. BLEED AIR knob - OFF (DO NOT CYCLE)
3. Emergency oxygen green ring - PULL
4. Maintain altitude below 10,000 feet.
5. Maintain airspeed below 325 KCAS (300 to 325
KCAS optimum).
6. ECS MODE switch - OFF/RAM
7. AV COOL switch - EMERG
Once below 10,000 feet -
8. Consider removing mask and resetting
emergency oxygen.
9. CABIN PRESS switch - RAM/DUMP
10. OXY FLOW knob - OFF
11. OBOGS control switch - OFF
12. Land as soon as practical.
If AV AIR HOT caution appears OR aft
avionics cooling fan disabled -
13. Non-essential avionics equipment - OFF (e.g.,
RADAR, UFCD controlled avionics, ECM, sensors,
MC2)
14. Land as soon as possible.
AUTO PILOT · Requested autopilot mode has disengaged. 1. Paddle switch - PRESS
2. Desired autopilot mode - RE-ENGAGE

AV AIR HOT
· The avionics undercool sensor, located forward of
the avionics bays, has determined that avionics
airflow and temperature are deficient. The system
assumes that if flow and temperature downstream
of the avionics bays are deficient, effective
avionics cooling is not being provided.
On the ground, the aft avionics cooling fan should
provide adequate avionics cooling up to an ambient
temperature of approximately 103°F. Above 103°F,
an AV AIR HOT caution should be expected. Advancing
one throttle above 74% N2 rpm or selecting
AUG PULL should remove the caution within 3
minutes. If an AV AIR HOT caution cannot be
cleared, maintenance action is required.
Inflight, the ECS controller should provide adequate
avionics cooling in all conditions. If an AV
AIR HOT caution is displayed with the ECS
MODE switch in AUTO and the throttles above
IDLE, the ECS is most likely degraded. If the AV
AIR HOT caution remains after selecting ECS
MAN mode, an ECS malfunction is most likely directing
hot air to the avionics/cockpit. If the cockpit
is still hot with the CABIN TEMP knob in COLD,
placing the BLEED AIR knob to OFF removes the
engine bleed air input to the ECS.
If the aft avionics cooling fan has been disabled, the
OFF/RAM position of the ECS MODE switch will
not energize the aft avionics cooling fan. In this
case, only limited avionics cooling is available using
ram air. With the AV COOL switch set to EMERG,
only the following essential avionics receive adequate
cooling: FCC A, one AHRS, and the right
transformer rectifier. All other avionics systems are
susceptible to failure or shutdown due to heat. Ambient
temperature significantly influences the rate
at which avionics systems fail.
